Yesterday I was on a high street when it started to piss it down with rain. I'd stopped to sort out the rain cover on DS's buggy when a woman next to me stopped a couple lads and asked them to put their hoods down as she found it 'threatening and offensive'. It was absolutely chucking it down!

AIBU to think that this was completely uncalled and to find it quite sad that it has got to a stage that some people assume teens with hoods are knife wielding thugs?

There will be an article in the dm next week about the rain, school holidays and hoodies!!!

I know what you mean Worra, but on a site like that you have to buy a pass to even go in the arcade (and they do check). I can't see many teens intent on thuggery buying a pass to enter a campsite arcade in the middle of nowhere! The entertainment does make my ears bleed but still I don't think i'd resort to violence! (honest) Grin

Yes but the parents by the passes and the kids cause trouble in the arcades a lot of the time.

We go to camp sites every year so I see it a lot. Also in my experience the biggest causers of trouble are often the caravan owners kids who seem to think they run the place.

The reason for the hoods down rule is so they are identifiable on CCTV, otherwise there's not point in having it.

It makes my ears bleed too and you're a stronger woman than me if you're sure you wouldn't resort to violence Grin

Blardy hell...what campsites do you go to Worra!!

thedogsrolex · 12/07/2012 19:48

Grin Oh dear, as you were folks...anyway...what were we saying?

tethersend · 12/07/2012 20:13

Never mind the hoods, it's the bastards in the clear plastic rain bonnets you've got to watch out for.

thedogsrolex · 12/07/2012 20:18

No shit, they are scary!

TheSpokenNerd · 12/07/2012 21:54

I've also met the Missing Link Family from Hell on a campng holiday Worra! They were very well organised...own porta loo...good tent...and their kids ..anging from about 6 to 15...were feral nightmares. The sort of kids that the Sun dleights in writing articles called things like "Hell Boy 8 is King of Estate of Doom"

They were AWFUL! Drunken louts including the parents.

TheSpokenNerd · 12/07/2012 21:55

Please don't laugh at me for assuming that a family who owns a good tent and a portaloo would be respectable.

I was wondering the other day. I remember when I was little ladies of a certain age getting out those plastic hoods when it rained. Women 20+ years younger wouldn't dream of wearing them.
20-30 years down the line women of the similar age still wear those hood.

So it looks like as women we get to a certain age and suddenly think "I know I must have one of those plastic hoods to cover my hair..." Worrying!!! Wink

AKE2012 · 12/07/2012 23:00

I hope when im at the plastic headcover wearing age that il still be proudly wearing my hoody. Grin
