And the school said they would keep the fee you had paid against the next trip, would you be bothered or would you be 'outraged'

The children are in reception so will have plenty more school trips.

Yup, what Nutcracker said.

DontEatTheVolesKids · 12/07/2012 18:27

I would not trust them to remember they owed it to me.

ENormaSnob · 12/07/2012 18:40

I would expect a refund tbh.

McHappyPants2012 · 12/07/2012 18:48

wouldn't bother me saves paying next time. However DS is going into the last year of infants and still not been on a trip
:(

Mrbojangles1 · 12/07/2012 19:03

Be outraged out poverty, racesim and child murder

Just be sligtly put out by them keeping your money

delilahlilah · 12/07/2012 19:10

It depends, the school may not have been refunded themselves. The coach company for example may have offered to postpone for another time as a good will gesture if it was short notice. As long as the child is going on the next trip I don't see an issue? (I am very skint, but would just see it as one less thing to pay next time)

ariadne1 · 12/07/2012 19:12

No it should be refunded. It is not the schools money!!

TouTou · 12/07/2012 19:15

Wouldn't have occurred to me to think it a bad thing. I think they should have added though that it you wanted the money back you could request it from the school secretary.

KittyFane1 · 12/07/2012 21:32

If the next trip has not been planned yet then the school should have given parents a choice. They could have offered a refund to those who wanted it or held the money as payment for the next trip.
I personally would want them to keep hold of it. Far less hassle.

MulberryMoon · 12/07/2012 21:58

I was going to say that people might be upset if they were skint and needed the money back, but then i suppose if the kids at gone on the trip they wouldn't get the money back,so would be no worse off. If they were struggling to put food on the table, then presumably they wouldn't have made the voluntary contribution for the trip.

boneyjonesy · 13/07/2012 10:50

Mulberry- but that's like the siupermarket saying i won't bother giving you any change .We'll just hold on to it til next time you shop

ValiumQueen · 13/07/2012 10:58

I would expect a refund, and would write a polite letter to the Head if it did not happen pretty quickly. I may not want my child to go on the next trip, and it is my money.

MulberryMoon · 13/07/2012 11:17

boneyjonesy Yes I suppose it is really. They should at least give people the option of having it back.

SweetTheSting · 13/07/2012 11:26

I think it's quite likely school has a credit note with eithe the coach or the venue and would struggle to refund, if so that could have been explained.
