I have two teenage daughters who never use txtspk unless it's ironic. They'd rather send two messages if the message goes over 160 characters. Yes, I'm very proud of them. :)

My teenage son and his friends never uses text speak. They do use a lot of abbreviations though.

e.g IDC for I don't care, which is a bit like MN.
