Unlrss there were like 20 million people there.
I'm really hacked off and am trying to put off paying.

My boss ordered us to eat beforehand because the company was on a limited budget and the party food was for guests only.

I didn't go but a couple of blokes scoffed all the food they could get their hands on while staring and willing her to say something in front of the important dignitaries.

Haha!

Ps - who's on the dole now?

nickelbarapasaurus · 09/07/2012 17:25

RuleBritannia - thank god I wasn't the only one!!
it took me ages to work it out (and I didn't even click when I read "for burgers" either!)

ImperialBlether · 09/07/2012 17:32

I thought it was B&Q and she was talking about the hamburger stand outside!

OP, don't give us the real figure you're expected to pay, but please could you give us a ballpark figure?

I think YABU to assume that just because it's your boss, they have money to throw around. My DH has managerial responsibility for 6 staff and buys gifts for them all at Christmas, as it's expected of him - and is good for staff morale in the long run. Whilst he may earn slightly more than them, I've no doubt they have more disposable income than him, so it's money that comes out of the family Christmas budget.

YANBU to object to having to pay for something you've been invited to, though.

You don'thave to go. Don't go. Say you have a prior commitment.
