To have been scared by Dd2 having a nightmare?

She is 2.5, and in proper terrible twos at the moment, so when she started thrashing about in the bed and crying me an dh just thought she was demanding something or other and I sleepily moved her so she wasn't kicking dh in the face and asked her what the matter was. Usually, even if she is having a full on tantrum that has built up, she will at least shout 'Thomas!' or whatever, but she just kept arching her back with her eyes shut and kind of, nt screaming, but more than crying.
I tried rubbing her back and tummy in case it was wind, I tried saying her name sternly, I tried singing to her, tried getting up and walking around (she just thrashed about in my arms instead), tried taking her downstairs, then finally I went to change her nappy and she kind of snapped out of it, yawned, smiled and said 'I awake now. My tummy rumbling, I can have toast?' like nothing had happened.
Ths was a last night, but it was upsetting. Dh seems to think it was just a sleepy tantrum and that I should have just put her n her own bed to calm down.

Abu to be shook up, and what can I d if it happens again?

that sounds like a night terror to me, not nice at all but very common

I agree with biddysmama Especially as you weren't able to wake her, and she seemed fine afterwards. The good news is, unlike nightmares, children don't remember these episodes. Read more here:
