To be organising a boycott of Tescos and expecting you all to join in

hathorisaskingaquestion · 04/07/2012 19:41

DS had an interview there this week for a job.

They had 20 jobs and 600 and something applications.

The fucking bastards didn't give him a job.

Therefore, I am organising a boycott and you all must support me, OK?

Sorry, I can't survive without the finest potato salad...good luck though

Baygreen · 04/07/2012 20:31

carabos I'm intrigued about your 'arch enemy'
Who are they?what did they do to have such a wicked title?

TodaysAGoodDay · 04/07/2012 20:32

I'm with you.

geminitiger · 05/07/2012 00:26

I'll boycott them on the grounds that my local one no longer sells my favourite sparkling Ribena!! Can I be disloyal for 30 or so hours a week though please? I'll still hate them on the inside, I promise! All the more so because I'm not actually allowed to slag them off on the Internet - thank God for anonymous posts.

Good luck to your son, if he really wants to work for the devil Tesco it's worth cultivating a friend who works there already. :o

BigHairyFlowers · 05/07/2012 01:02

I will leave the bastards.

Only go in there once or twice a year though, when I manage to forget how bad it is, so I'm not sure they'll notice!

Plomino · 05/07/2012 01:03

I've boycotted them for the last 4 years after they fucked up their Clubcard vouchers and denied all responsibility even when their own staff pointed it out . I'll happily continue to boycott them on your behalf . Fuckers .

My DS is also out looking for a part time job . No luck at all yet , so wishing yours luck too .

sesameflower · 05/07/2012 01:11

I will boycott them because the tesco heiress became a counsellor in westminister and relocated the vast majority of social housing residents out of london to ensure westminster became a tory stronghold. She did this at a cost of millions of pounds of public money. She was then prosecuted and ordered to repay fraction of the money - 12 million pounds. The billionare then relocated to the middle east and never repaid a penny. Criminal.
I will happily continue to boycott them.

millieandmax · 05/07/2012 01:42

At least if you apply for a job there they don't block you from applying for another position for six months like Asda does.

Tanith · 05/07/2012 01:54

I will never, ever shop at Tescos again.

I get my shopping delivered by the nice Ocado man, but that's not the point!

izzyizin · 05/07/2012 02:41

You and me both, flower.

I find that when I think 'Dame Shirley Porter' a trek to Waitrose or any other supermarket seems like no distance at all.

PartyInMyPants · 05/07/2012 04:04

I don't shop there at all, but butterscotch mousse?! Why didn't I know such a thing existed? Shock

Sorry but I'm going to have to shop there now just to find that! I promise to boycott once I'm finished though Grin

Scrounginscum · 05/07/2012 06:36

I am already boycotting them beacause of bastard Tesco bank (long story).

MrClaypole · 05/07/2012 06:40

I am already boycotting them due to their shite online delivery service (late deliveries, missing items, random unasked for items, staff who don't give a toss)

Ocado all the way here - and it's no more expensive!

I hope your DS gets a job soon.

SoupDragon · 05/07/2012 06:43

I stopped shopping with them when they sent me a "free" newspaper with my online delivery and charged me 1p for it.

It was the Daily Mail.

kittyandthefontanelles · 05/07/2012 06:57

We've boycotted it for years but for real reasons

kittyandthefontanelles · 05/07/2012 06:58

Oh and I hope your husband finds employment soon

Iggly · 05/07/2012 07:03

Not hard to join as I bloody hate it don't shop there anyway because we have a Waitrose near us

Unfortunately you will have to boycott them all - getting any shelf stacking job these days is like gold dust! I bet Waitrose had more applicants for less jobs!
There was a piece in the Times yesterday about famous people and their Saturday jobs then saying that only 20% had them today, making out they were lazy - I thought have any of you any idea how difficult it is to get one those days?! Hmm

FutTheShuckUp · 05/07/2012 07:17

It's her son isn't it??

kittyandthefontanelles · 05/07/2012 07:20

Oops sorry, thanks, futtheshuckup.

Fireandashes · 05/07/2012 07:21

I boycott Tesco anyway, so happy to add your DS to the list of reasons why.

TBH from what I've heard about their treatment of employees, he's probably had a lucky escape.

seeker · 05/07/2012 07:25

I boycott them already because they are the most hideous of the many greedy, corporwt steamrollers which destroy communities.

But I will add your ds to my reasons.

My db and I once had q two person boycott of Spain because our other brother's ghastly wife came from there. That was great fun!

SofaKing · 05/07/2012 07:46

I boycott anyway as have never had good service and they made fil redundant last year.

Step-mil still shops there though, I can only assume she is fonder of Club card vouchers than she is of fil!

notsofrownieface · 05/07/2012 08:12

I will boycott, I live in Tescoville, 13 soon to be 14 soon to have its own massive distribution center. The houses will all be white and blue soon.
