Id like to encourage a bit of political activism
Or at the very least, political awareness
show her that you can stand up against what you believe is wrong
you're either part of the problem or part of the solution etc etc

or do EDL protests get rough?

Million women rise is child friendly and hugely unlikely to have any trouble. There are girls of your daughter's age there.

Agree with Stewie. I took DDs ages 7 and 10 with me to an anti-SDL (Scottish Defence League) march a couple of months ago. In the lead-up to the demonstration I went to an open meeting of UAF who were the organisers, listened to what the plan was, asked questions and on that basis decided that the centre of town with the anti-SDL marchers was going to be the safest place locally that day due to the police presence! The rally and march were great. DDs asked lots of questions about what was happening, and about the slogans and placards, and I think by the end of the day they had a pretty good understanding of a) that it's necessary to stand up for what you believe in and b) that politics is a lot more than voting once every five years. We didn't actually see any SDL supporters as the police kept the two contingents well away from each other. We later heard there had been a breakaway group from our march who had left and gone up to where the SDL were gathering to try to prevent them, but I certainly didn't see anything coming anywhere close to violence from where we were.

Me and my dds were caught up in a confrontation in new street station Birmingham, lots of pushing, glass throwing and violence from both EDL and Opposition. Both sides were vile, violent and couldn't give a frap who they hurt.

To voluntarily take a 7 year old to this is beyond stupid.

Cnd marches no comparison.
