FFS!

Normal telly! Please!

Surely everyone will just watch the beeb so they don't have to endure ad breaks all the fricking time.

Why is it scheduled on both?

Dreading the Olympics - one whole month of endless sport of which I will only want to watch 10%.

So, AIBU?

YANBU, it's not even as if England are in the final. Spain vs Italy? How does that justify taking up two channels of British TV at the same time.

MrsSutherland · 01/07/2012 21:29

Its only 2 hours FFS!

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 01/07/2012 21:29

Well I'm more Italian than I am English. There are three other cou tries in the UK you know, and not even everyone in England is English Wink

JosephineCD · 01/07/2012 21:31

It's one game every four years. YABU.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 01/07/2012 21:33

I very rarely sit and watch the news. And that's on every terrestrial channel every day. Multiple times. And there are news channels. There's even a kids version on CBBC! And it's on the Internet, and teletext

Sure beyond and that's why I can completely understand why it needs to be on, but on two channels? Two channels showing the exact same programme? Thats like showing the same film, at the same time, on BBC and ITV isn't it?

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 01/07/2012 21:41

Oo btw, no one explained yet. It's because there are "two" of every other game, so they can be split evenly. There's only one final and so many people watch it, neither channel wants to miss out on the millions of ratings.

Moln · 01/07/2012 21:45

It's not exactly the same - there are different commentators.

Also see what Beyond said and there is the demand because of the different commentators - some people (who like football) really dislike BBC or ITV commentators and pundatory

Traffic cops on Watch for me Wink

Gotta love a good police chase!

TheMysteryCat · 01/07/2012 22:06

one channel - fine
two channels at prime time for three hours - bloody irritating

What is 'normal' telly exactly? Endless fucking soaps and soap omnibuses ever day of the week?

Drama, comedy, news, documentaries, music, natural history, children's programmes, politics, sci-fi, education, religion, animation, history, lifestyle/home/garden, feature films.

I'd sooner watch any of those than sport.

sashh · 02/07/2012 04:36

This annoys me so much. And the worst is I HAVE to pay the BBC for it (via TV licence). The BBC is supposed to be a public service, so IMHO they shoud be providing a sevice, not showing the same as another channel.

And as for Wimbledon.............. I still have not forgiven them for taking the last episode of Robin Hood off to show a couple of sweaty blokes play tennis. Not even good looking blokes.

And they were on instead of Richard Armitage (in black leather), I can feel my blood pressure rising. Yes I did complain, but it took me 20 mins to get through as the lines were jammed.

Oh and it was on both BBC 1 as well as BBC HD.
