to label kids stuff with a marker pen

In an attempt to be a proper mum I thought I might splash out and buy those stickers loads of people have but they are ridiculously expensive. it would be about 50 quid to buy to 2 x "value packs" for my 2 kids - I think that is mad or am I being tight?
Is there any cheaper alternatives - looked at stuck on you etc so far. or shall I just stick wth my trustee permanant marker?

Sew in labels aren't expensive - I got 50 for 6 pounds fifty - five years later I'm still using them.

I mark my dog's balls with a marker pen. The ones I throw for him to retrieve on the oval. Not the other ones - they've been cut off.:o

Sorry hit return - the labels I got were woven with a little picture Dc chose and delivered, so they're especially careful of their things, as they chose the piccy and have 'ownership'.

Having sew on labels also means that when I sell on my DCs uniform, the new parent doesn't have to write over any scribblings I've made on the label, so it increases the resell value!

Is that why dogs squat? Mystery solved!

I even cut down on marker pen use.Had lots of kids at school at once.Ended up just putting on their initials.Decided chances of them losing swimming costume,shoes etc at same time as someone else with same initials was virtually 0.Never resulted in a problem.

People sell on uniform ? DS's end up as dusters

My kids kept a couple of items each.The jumpers that were still good enough,we gave them back to the school.
