I am 45 and kind of average at most things. Educated to degree level, OK job, quite creative. But there are so many 'normal' things I don't know or can't do. Nothing major just silly things are of little or no importance but it just struck me that I seem to be going through life in a little bubble of not knowing stuff!

I don't know what celery salt is or what you would use it for.
I can't carve a chicken, it looks like I set the dog on it when I've finished.
I can't cook rice.
I have no idea how to change a wheel (I am shamed by this one).
I still can't put a duvet cover on without a great deal of sweating and swearing.
There are many, many more a lot of them food related so maybe I'm just a shit cook. Smile

Is it just me?

I'm slightly older than you OP and The only thing on your list I can do is cook rice. Our Chef friend took pity on me and told me how Grin that and he wanted a decent dinner at ours.
Duvet change day brings moans and bad moods.

cheese what access course did you do?

With rice, measure as abive, put in pan, heat until boiling, turn off hob, put on a lid and walk away. Come back in 20ish minutes to perfect non sticky rice. Will not over cook and will keep warm until rest of meal is ready.

I cannot do a lot of practical things, because my former DH was a builder and did everything, to professional standards.

I wish that i could do bike repairs, so i could confidently goon long bike rides and know that i could fix whatever went wrong.

I find changing wheels a problem, because of weak hands, but i pay for the extended cover on AA.
