To take off my wedding and engagement rings

Love dh and there are no arguments or bad feelings.

Under the rings the skin is very dry and is peeling, I know if I take them off it will give the skin a chance to heel.

I feel though that I shouldn't take them off

Do not loose them like I have...

I put them in a 'safe place' in the house, whilst I cleaned something. I can't remember where. Still.

I was not popular for that one.

I think it's down to constant hand washing in work ( hospital) and not drying under the rings. But glad ianbu taking them off.

this us a tame Aibu
unless you want to martyr yourself and have excoriated skin of course take em off

Another vote for Body Shop hemp stuff.
Also wear rubber gloves when you wash up! In fact put cream on under the gloves before you wash up because the heat from the water will open the pores and help it to absorb.

And no, YANBU!

Dh and I both took our off last year when we noticed we were forming serious amounts of callus on the hand where the rings were rubbing.

We've worn them for 20 years and we know we are married to each other so it didn't seem worth it any more.

Hands feeling much better now.

WorraLiberty · 30/06/2012 21:58

This happens to me now and then so I've got in the habit of putting them on my other hand before bed, and applying moisturiser.

It's amazing how quickly it heals.

Sandycat249 · 30/06/2012 23:07

Definitely YANBU. Do whatever makes you feel comfortable. Unless your rings are unusual, it shouldn't cost too much to have them resized. I've just had an 18ct. gold ring upped by 2 sizes and it costs £38, and a 9ct. gold ring upped 2 sizes and that cost £26.75. HTH.

McHappyPants2012 · 01/07/2012 18:36

Not the wrong size, only been married a year.

But thanks to the advice about cream and washing up, I have a dishwasher but have hand washed the dishes last night and today and my hands are already feeling alot better :)

YANBU at all, also what about taking them off at night? I started doing that a few years ago as the skin underneath and around was getting very hard (a bit like hard skin on your feet), they've been heaps better since. I always put them back on after my shower in the morning and then take them off last thing at night.

sensuallettuce · 01/07/2012 19:56

Costs about £40 to get them resized depending on the gold.

Johnnydeppsnewmrs · 01/07/2012 20:01

Mine are off for the same reason. Soapy water gets stuck under the rings, no matter how well I dry them.
DH doesn't mind, and even if he did it is tough. It is me who has to put up with the itchy skin if I don't take them off.
