To think Bassetts Liquorice Allsorts would be perfect if it weren't for the round coconutty ones?

All of the others I really like but what you get in a bag is totally hit and miss. I usually give those ones to dh and sometimes that's half a bag gone before I start Sad

YADNBU.

Send them to me for safe disposal. Wink

GangstaGranny · 30/06/2012 17:37

YADNBU. I can't abide the coconut rolls, the rest are fab

sallymonella · 30/06/2012 17:46

YANBU, they're horrible! Who on earth thought that you need coconut in a bag of liquorice?!

The boobly bits ones are the best :)

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 30/06/2012 17:51

I hate the granny's hats ones, LittleMissGreen, but every other liquorice allsort is welcome chez moi.

However, the OP is very very unreasonable to start this thread, because now I want a bag of liquorice allsorts, and I haven't got any.

TheCountessOlenska · 30/06/2012 17:53

I will happily eat a whole bag but if I had to pick a worst one it would be the weird blue and pink bobbly ones.

Best are plain liquorice and tubes with white stuff in.

SoleSource · 30/06/2012 17:59

YADBU! All donations greatfully received. Shock

Hate the coconut ones. Too sweet and just wrong!

Love the plain and square liqourice though.

Fairenuff · 30/06/2012 18:30

What is that other stuff anyway, some kind of fondant icing? I like the brown one best, chocolate flavour, then the orange, pink one is my least favourite of the coloured squares.

YABU All liquorice is fab :)
YAB even more U to be talking about liquorice and not sharing the bag! Wink

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 01/07/2012 00:48

I have liquorice allsorts!! Smile

yellowraincoat · 01/07/2012 00:51

They are the best ones, I eat the coconut bit and throw the nasty liquorice bit away.

Wittsend13 · 01/07/2012 02:38

YANBU I was thinking very much the same the other day. They're grim!

izzyizin · 01/07/2012 03:16

Swap you your coconut delights for my nasty seedy ones and those horrid square ones that taste of cardboard.

Red liquorice string, anyone?

wimbledonisfuckingdull · 01/07/2012 07:35

I think YABU. The bobbly ones are the worst, closely followed by the jelly man, then the squares with too much fondant.
The best are the solid ones, the roll ones and the coconut ones.

Fairenuff · 01/07/2012 10:27

What I don't like is that I never know how many of which type I will get in a bag. So it's often a huge disappointment because I have to give half of them away.

There are usually loads of the coconutty ones and the first job is to take them all out because they can't be touching the others.

< starts to wonder if that is slightly unusual behaviour > Hmm Grin

(mmm pernod, that takes me back to me yoof)

SirSugar · 01/07/2012 10:52

lovely thread - the seedy ones give me nausea, square sandwiches are best with the brown slice

Inertia · 01/07/2012 10:54

YABU. Every single type of licquorice allsort is utterly hideous.

They are not actually food, you know.

Fairenuff · 01/07/2012 11:15

But licquorice is full of iron. And is a natural plant. So it is a little bit like food Grin

I love everything licquorice, laces, sherbert fountains, pontefract cakes, pernod, sambucca, aniseed (ok not licquorice but similar) and fennel tea!

OP posts:
Ambi · 01/07/2012 11:51

YABU, but I'd share a bag with you as they are the best. The jelly ones are the work of the devil (though still get eaten Confused) Plain licorice are just boring. Ido love allsorts though. The Aldi bags for 49p are scrummy.

whackamole · 01/07/2012 11:54

YABU as liquorice is the foodstuff of the devil and should be banned forthwith.

Puts kettle on . . .

Waits for SDTG to offer tea bags . . .

I also love the way it's such a difficult word to spell Grin

PollyLogos · 01/07/2012 12:24

YADNBU Grin to paraphrase Joey .... liquorice good. coconut bad. Grin

BertieBotts · 01/07/2012 12:26

I like all of them but the coconut ones are my least favourite.

Licorice and Egyptian spice tea sounds amazing! Where can you get it from?
