to want to report someone flouting the hosepipe ban?

This is the 2nd time since the ban. First time I shrugged it off. Neighbour has several cars and employers local village handyman to clean his car(s) in between monthly valets- that guy uses buckets.
I am not sure if the pressure washer was attached to an outside tap or a portable water container. But in any case- is this not illegal? We have a shred drive so it was blatant.
V annoyed as lugging watering cans to my garden etc.
What would you do? Who would I contact?

Our water board said on their website that they didn't want people grassing up their neighbours.

Are MNs usually so casual about the law?

WE have a ban as WE are still in drought. If you are so dim that you don't understand that even the rain we have had to date is not enough to fill the resevoirs in the south then I despair.

My life is not the slightest bit narrow.

I am annoyed that while I lug watering cans around the garden my neighbour feels it's fine to waste water- illegally- by having a man wash his cars.

You sound utterly charming!

Sleepydog · 29/06/2012 19:05

I live in South - Thames Water and ban lifted - so we are not all doom and gloom down ' sarf'.

Lighten up OP Grin

Gunznroses · 29/06/2012 19:07

"while I lug watering cans around the garden", didnt it rain in your area yesterday ? Confused

Pascha · 29/06/2012 19:08

If you can't beat 'em, join 'em I say!

Petsinmypudenda · 29/06/2012 19:08

Wont someone think of the reservoirs!

Gunznroses · 29/06/2012 19:09

i wonder what OP's neighbour would say if only he could read this thread Grin

Are MNs usually so casual about the law?

No, only when the law is ridiculous.

As has been said, there is enough water and there has been enough rainfall. The other Southern Water companies have lifted their bans, so if Veolia haven't managed their water supply properly, that is their own fault.

edam · 29/06/2012 19:10

Presumably the water used to wash this car runs down the drains and back into the sewers? So even if you are still in a hosepipe ban area (really, are there any left?) it's not doing huge amounts of harm.

There are only four companies that still have a ban

here

Dollydowser · 29/06/2012 19:43

Just use your hosepipe too, then you won't be annoyed. Job done.

TheHumancatapult · 29/06/2012 19:52

I'm south east veolia water the ban is lifted

JarethTheGoblinKing · 29/06/2012 19:55

was he using a hose to wash the cars ?

Forgive me for such a stupid question, you must despair.

usualsuspect · 29/06/2012 19:57

There was enough rain yesterday to wash everyones car in the whole of England.

HoneyDragonWearingLederhosen · 29/06/2012 19:59

If its attached to a container he's not breaking The Law, is suggest Ariel surveillance to follow the hose route.

JoannaFight · 29/06/2012 20:00

'and employers local village handyman to clean his car(s) in between monthly valets- that guy uses buckets.'

Blimey staff as wellShock How very dare he??

Anyway if he's using buckets that's not a hosepipe

HolyCameraConfusionBatman · 29/06/2012 20:05

Gunz a bit off topic, but I'm in the south east and no it didn't rain yesterday Grin

mummytime · 29/06/2012 20:44

Didn't rain here yesterday, but we're not in a hose pipe ban anymore. I'm surprised anywhere is, last I heard most reservoirs are back to normal.

However I doubt the guy was breaking the Hose Pin ban from what people have said, and I would be very surprised if your area more on to the next more severe stage.

I'm in the South too.
