Not sentimental and most have been in the loft for the last 2 years

No. Put them on Freecycle.

TiaMariaandDietCoke · 29/06/2012 15:16

not sure why it could be u - assuming they are yours / your dcs? Just don't let them see them go or there'll probably be tears over toys they had long since forgotten!

Freecycle or chairy best way to dispose of them of course, rather than landfill

JayelleBee · 29/06/2012 15:25

Charity shops take them. I remember being told, falsely, that they didn't for hygiene reasons. Get rid.

hatchypom · 29/06/2012 15:27

Who would want them though ??? I thought there were hygiene issues with children's centres, playgroups or hospitals. Some still have labels on !

tha cat rescue i work for loves people getting rid of soft toys, we wash them if in good condition wrap them up in pretty cellophane wrapping and put them on the tombola stall at fetes brings in good fundraising money for a small charity, maybe ring round and see if any local charities near you do the same type of thing

AChickenCalledKorma · 29/06/2012 17:30

Our local Council recycling centre has a special container for soft toys. Don't know whether they donate them or recycle the materials. Might be worth finding out whether there is anything on offer in your area.

hatchypom · 29/06/2012 18:24

The cat rescue isn't in Surrey is it ??

Lots of schools/ charities would love to have them for their schools tombola stall.

As for being unreasonable, I have to say that I regret that when I got rid of all the cuddly toys (that my DS1 had no interest in whatever) I also got rid of the rabbit that his father bought for him. He is a total waste of space and has never had anything to do with DS1, saw him when he was 4 days old (he's now 19 years old) but it was the ONLY thing he ever had from him and I wish I had kept it. Just make sure that there is nothing you will regret getting rid of before you do.
