to be annoyed with people sitting on my front garden wall?

Due to road works, the bus stop has temporarily moved outside my house. AIBU to be annoyed with people sitting on my front garden wall waiting for the bus?

Also, is it more reasonable to be annoyed because I spend all day breast feeding in my front room and it feels like I have an audience?

Won't be forever though,will it?

Psammead · 29/06/2012 15:04

How do you feel about toddlers walking along your wall? Out of interest.

NinaHeart · 29/06/2012 15:05

Remove mortar from wall joints so bricks are unstable. Hours of harmelss(?) fun.

goodiegoodieyumyum · 29/06/2012 15:05

Your not being unreasonable, they could damage your garden wall, just because your house is in front of the bus stop does not give people the right to sit on your fence.

Hullygully · 29/06/2012 15:07

Are you trying to make ff-ing mothers feel bad?

valiumredhead · 29/06/2012 15:07

It's a wall, not a fence and if a wall gets damaged by a couple of people resting their bums on it then it doesn't sound very safe and they are probably doing you a favour by highlighting the fact it is weak and needs replacing Grin

HeadfirstForHalos · 29/06/2012 15:07

I think it's rude of people to sit on peoples garden walls. I don't allow my children to walk on them either. I do let them walk on the walls outside our little Tesco.

valiumredhead · 29/06/2012 15:08

And presumably they are sitting on the wall looking for the bus, not at you BF? Confused

Ecgwynn · 29/06/2012 15:08

I'd be impressed if the toddlers managed it, it's quite a high wall. Now I think about it, I dislike the intrusion more than the fact they are on my property. Maybe I should go out and shout 'GERROF MY LAND!'

rainydaysarebad · 29/06/2012 15:09

Why don't you take your garden chairs out there for them to sit on and sell them home made lemonade.

Ecgwynn · 29/06/2012 15:10

I also formula feed in my front room, don't worry.

Personally it wouldn't bother me as a temporary thing (and surely they'll have their backs to you bfing?) but if it bothers you, can't you just accidentally wet the wall while watering your garden - no-one will sit on it if they'll get a wet arse :)

MrsTerryPratchett · 29/06/2012 15:10

Broken glass bottles, embedded in the wall?

Socknickingpixie · 29/06/2012 15:11

Or you could do it from a rocking chair whilst swigging jack daniels and put straw in your mouth, that would be fun.
Joking aside it wouldn't bother me but if it's your wall then you get to decide if it bugs you

stacysmom · 29/06/2012 15:13

Oooh that would annoy the hell out of me, but then I get grumpy at next door using our driveway as a shortcut to their front door (our front doors are side-by-side, no fence/wall between them).

happy2bhomely · 29/06/2012 15:15

I would be annoyed too. I don't allow my children to walk on garden walls either. I think it is rude.

FioFio · 29/06/2012 15:17

it is bad manners

I have had cyclists wee up my hedge though and you can quite clearly see them doing it from the hall window Shock

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 29/06/2012 15:21

I love kids
The kids round here a nice kids
I have lots of kids
However, i hate kids sitting on my wall. It irks me.
So I had a little pointy fence put on top when I had the wall rebuilt.
They no longer sit on my wall.
Hurrah.

Springforward · 29/06/2012 15:24

It would bug me I am very territorial

wannabedomesticgoddess · 29/06/2012 15:33

It would bug me too. The kids where I live play in our garden uninvited when DD isnt out, have scratched the car and when they call for DD if the door isnt answered within a timely fashion (ie a second) they just walk on in. If the doors locked they peer through the windows.

I would wet the wall as a PP suggested.

ohchristFENTON · 29/06/2012 15:41

Ooh we have had a garden wall one for aaages.

OP YANBU at all, it is intrusive and presumptuous, but it won't be for too long hopefully and in the meantime don't you think it could do with a lick of paint/creosote/something else off-putting?

goodiegoodieyumyum · 29/06/2012 15:46

Even the best built garden wall is not designed for people sit on and if several people sat on it at once it can cause damage, sorry I called it a fence.

I don't like it when my dd walks on other peoples low walls and don't allow her to do it.

I also breast feed in my front room and have had people walk by and stare in, would feel very akward if they were sitting on my garden wall.

AlexReidsLonelyBraincell · 29/06/2012 15:46

Coat it in a nice glaze of Golden syrup or treacle, that'll show the feckers.

MammaTJ · 29/06/2012 16:02

I would decide to go and water the garden while they are sat on the wall and accidentally water them!

OO, do you have a hosepipe ban?

avivabeaver · 29/06/2012 16:25

we used to have a bus stop outside our house, there was a narrow pavement i often had a garden of people waiting for the bus. when i used to leave the house, i would get people asking me if the bus had been.

every 20 minutes for 5 years i listened to the bus arrive. we moved and 4 weeks later they re-rerouted the bus and removed the stop.
