......when ds2 is only 4 months.

I have been invited to a hen night which will be one night away. Will be leaving 3 dc's with DH. I really want to go as I don't go out without the dc's very often. DH is fine with it but have had a few comments about leaving ds2 who will be nearly 4 months. It isn't the first time I have left him overnight as ds1 was in hospital overnight so he stayed with my mum. He is ff.

YANBU...go and have a fab time!

iscream · 28/06/2012 07:49

Go, ds will be ok with dad. Have fun,

BatCave · 28/06/2012 07:51

Yanbu, if he's happy and you're happy then screw what anyone else thinks. Have a great time - it'll be good for you.

GnocchiNineDoors · 28/06/2012 07:53

Good lord, of COURSE go if you want to. I had had my first night out by then too.

What sort of things have people said? Imo its jealousy at the fact that you clearly have a very supportive and competent husband

ClaudiaSchiffer · 28/06/2012 07:55

Go. Have fun. Come back hungover refreshed and revitalised. DCs will be fine with their dad.

takingiteasy · 28/06/2012 07:56

Go! Go! Go!

Fuck what anyone else says. Be prepared for underhanded insults along the lines of 'I don't understand how anyone could leave a baby so young but if you're happy to do it...'

Fact is baby is with dad and they will survive whilst you get to let your hair down, have a lie in and come back a new woman!

Go!

Trioofprinces · 28/06/2012 07:57

YANBU - Go and have fun!!

39widow · 28/06/2012 07:58

go - enjoy yourself, they with their dad not some stranger

newmum001 · 28/06/2012 07:59

YANBU go and have a fab time. Everyone needs to let their hair down now and then.

Mishy1234 · 28/06/2012 08:00

YANBU, go!

The only thing that stopped me from doing the same was that mine wouldn't take a bottle.

Go ahead and enjoy yourself.

Noqontrol · 28/06/2012 08:38

God yes, go and enjoy yourself.

PrincessOfChina · 28/06/2012 08:39

YANBU, I went on a hen do for 3 nights when DD was 12 weeks. She was fine, DP was fine, I was fine.

worldgonecrazy · 28/06/2012 08:45

YANBU. I had a girlie night out when DD was the same age and I was bfing. We still managed to do it, I had a lovely time and started to feel glamorous again, DD had a lovely time with her dad.

MammaTJ · 28/06/2012 09:05

I used to go 'out' three nights a week when my DD1 was that age, I worked nights. Grin

Summerblaze · 28/06/2012 11:05

Maybe they are jealous. Dh is great with the kids and never minds having them on his own or taking them all out somewhere while I do some jobs around the house. Most of my friends have husbands who moan when they are left to "babysit" Hmm and can't possibly manage to keep the children entertained and keep the house from looking like a bomb has hit too.

I just thought maybe I was bu because he is so young. Someone said that I shouldn't be going on a hen night at all as I have 3 dc's and are too old.

Downandoutnumbered · 28/06/2012 11:33

YANBU! I couldn't have done it when DS was 4 months because he was an incredibly stubborn bottle refuser, but would have gone out overnight like a shot if it wouldn't have meant leaving DH with a baby screaming non-stop.

And the person who said you shouldn't be going on a hen night at all is clearly bonkers. Does she also think you should be investing in beige slacks and sensible shoes?

CruCru · 28/06/2012 11:42

Your children have two parents. Go. Wear some jewellery that you can't usually wear (dangly earrings etc).

accountantsrule · 28/06/2012 12:32

They are jealous definitely. I went out overnight when they were that age as couldn't continue BF due to poor mily supply so it wasn't an issue.

accountantsrule · 28/06/2012 12:34

Just seen the too old comment - unreal - I hope you told them to fuck off!!

I actually can't believe no one has said yet ' YANBU, if you want to go then you should, personally I could never have left my 4 month old overnight that early on'! Wink

Come on MNetters - you're slacking!!!

accountantsrule · 28/06/2012 12:34

down your situation is different of course as you would have gone if you could!!!!!

picnicbasketcase · 28/06/2012 12:41

It really irks me when people say they are 'babysitting' their own children. No, that's called being a parent, you knob.

Go, have a lovely evening and don't worry.

WhiteWidow · 28/06/2012 12:45

Go! I don't understand why anyone would be disapproving of you going out for a night and enjoying yourself. It's not like you're fleeing the country for a drug binge is it?!! Some people are arses.
