To be not amused by this laughter?

It's incessant, disgusting, and grates. Every time I'm in the garden, all I can hear is this laugh. I wish I could describe it; well I could try. It's definitely male, begins with a loud intake of breath (resembling a honk - think low volume fog horn) then ascends to an unbearable countertenor, in an arpeggio-like-manner.
Someone is in their garden continually chuckling away, every time I open the back door. (And I'm honestly not exaggerating, it really is constant)
Tonight, the window is open as it's so humid, and I can't sleep because of the abrading arpeggios.
I have nothing against laughter, I normally find it a joy to listen to, especially a light "tee hee hee", but this is driving me insane!
So, there's the background info. AIBU, by hating this laugh, and dreading the next episode?
(Obviously I have nothing against the owner of this laugh, and I'm glad they're finding something very amusing, albeit, all of the time)

Laugh back like Sybil Fawlty.

Mulberry - No, it's definitely not a cough. Coincidentally, we also have 'loud coughing man' in our neighbourhood, who I believe, suffers from lung disease. The coughing doesn't bother me.
Takingiteasy- I hadn't thought of that. Maybe he actually has a laughing disorder? Either that, or his flat mate is a rather good comedian!
Well, I had a lovely cuppa in the garden this morning at 6am. Sun out, birdsong, and no laughing. Bliss! He's probably still asleep. I think I'm just going to have to take advantage of the golden early hours to get some peace and quiet!

AIBU to have laughed through this post?
Grin

YABU OP....why don't you start a collection of laughs? Like the man in Amelie. He could be the prize specimen!

mayaswell · 28/06/2012 11:01

tropicalfish if the dog can hear you but can't see you it might be worth a try speaking to it reassuringly, it works with the terrier in our road who can't see through the gate!
You feel like a numpty, but it's worth it if you stop feeling harassed in your own garden.

MulberryMoon · 28/06/2012 13:41

At least he doesn't carry on laughing in his sleep then. That's a blessing. Wink

Thingiebob · 28/06/2012 13:57

Really?

God sometimes I despair of MN.

HexagonalQueenofEverything · 28/06/2012 15:21

Do you live next door to Rustie Lee? Anyone else remember her 'chuckle' from TVAM?

HexagonalQueenofEverything · 28/06/2012 15:27

And yes, I am showing my age...

MissFaversam · 28/06/2012 15:30

I sympathise OP. The bloke upstairs has a voice like a ruddy foghorn and is constantly on the phone in the wee small hours telling people off you never know though he might be telling himself off and I'd like to tell him to fuckoff too Grin

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 28/06/2012 15:35

Do you live next door to ?

WifiNappies · 28/06/2012 15:41

Find out who it is by looking out for your most wrinkled neighbour?

alaughingmatter · 28/06/2012 16:19

Saskia- I'd find him bearable (just), at least there is some variation in his laughter!

Have you checked the garden for escaped hyenas or minor birds?

takingiteasy · 28/06/2012 16:46

That's the man I was thinking about!
