.. to expect perfect spelling, punctuation and grammar from YR teacher?

Briefly:

DS1 starts in Reception in September. We have had a little booklet from his new teacher giving information about the structure of the school day, uniform, food rules, etc.

It is simply riddled with simple punctuation errors and poor grammar and style. I am particularly angsty about this as I was a subeditor in a previous life, so I am genuinely wondering if I am overreacting, since it is EYFS and the children will be unaffected.

AIBU? or should we be able to expect flawless written material from teachers?

Trouble is, you can't rely on Spell checkers.
They don't pick up on the wrong spelling/right word. They don't always pick up on missing words and, as in the case of reports, they don't pick up on 'Amy has made good progress in literacy this year, however he would benefit from more independent reading at home...'

Careful proof-reading is vital.

I care a heck of a lot more about the content of a report/leaflet/letter home than I do about the spelling.

Many posters on here are complaining about spelling and grammatical errors and yet many posts on this thread are not perfect in either respect.

ByTheWay1 - it's okay to care about both.
I don't see why it has to be one or the other.

I am a teacher and any words I'm not sure about I would check in the dictionary. Especially something that was going to be printed out.

I'm not a perfect speller/grammarian, but it does no harm to check.

If it is a printed booklet it is probably not from the teacher but from the school.
