to get hacked off with old threads being dragged up

particularly when it's by bloody advertisers. Fine if it's a much needed/wanted update, eg. I'm always desperate to know about the bungalow saga. But when it's months old and somebody either puts an inane comment or an ad on the end. It drives me nuts.
I may however, just be having a funny day!

If it's an advert you can report it and it will be deleted

LoonyRationalist · 27/06/2012 13:34

I agree - old threads aren't in general found by those using the site day to day unless someone is delving deep into a topic. They are found by advertisers searching for keywords and resurrected for their purposes.

Unfortunately there isn't an easy solution, I report my doubts to MNHQ but they often give the benefit of the doubt. I do resent advertisers on MN circumventing proper fees though.

WorraLiberty · 27/06/2012 13:36

There's a very simple solution but MNHQ don't seem to want to do it

Lock old old threads!

That way people can read them, they can even start a new thread and link to them for reference but at least they can't bloody resurrect zombie threads.

I answered a thread from feb 11 the other day i felt a right twat Blush who looks for these

AnyFucker · 27/06/2012 14:28

I find that many old threads are resurrected for malicious purposes too

LemonMousse · 27/06/2012 14:29

I liked the one where the poster answered her own thread from about a year before explaining that she'd had a similar issue (think it was about a pushchair/buggy?) Grin
