to ask whether any 'plus size' MNers have ever been to Thorpe Park?

A few friends and I are thinking of going to Thorpe Park this weekend but I'm a bit worried that at my present, larger than I'd like, size I won't fit on some of the rides. Their website says they have a 51 inch torso restriction - does anyone know what that equates to in sizes? I am a UK 22 on the bottom and 20 on top.. I don't really want to go and be embarrassed by not being able to fit in any of the rides Blush

I know I am totally BU for posting this here really, but has anyone of a similar size (if you don't mind me being nosy?!) been to Thorpe Park and found it was OK to get on the rides?

My kids embarrass me far more than I ever do them. Don't see any of them taking a year out to stop being little feckers.

VegansTasteBetter · 26/06/2012 22:34

How is the op's weight disrespectful to anyone else? What an odd comment.

Also, apologies if I I am misunderstanding you but does "true and valid" actually mean "deranged and fuckwitted" in the UK and this is just one of those things that gets lost in translation to Americans because it means something very different to me?

SoleSource · 26/06/2012 22:35

Orchids you have issues.

stealthsquiggle · 26/06/2012 22:35

And there are plenty more where they came from. That was spectacularly nasty, ochids

My sister's daughter is bullied at school, because of her mothers weight. Her life is a misery. It happens in the UK.

Glitterknickaz · 26/06/2012 22:41

ohchids take your issues on a thread that is more relevant

duckdodgers · 26/06/2012 22:42

ohchids I would rather be overweight than have a sour bitter and twisted soul as you obviously do - otherwise why post such a nasty comment?

FutTheShuckUp · 26/06/2012 22:44

I suspect she's a rather odd looking single person take no notice

VegansTasteBetter · 26/06/2012 22:46

Orchid kids get bullied because their parents are gay/too fat/ too thin/ too poor/ too rich/ too black/ too white/ too boring/ should they all get rid of their kids?

ohchids · 26/06/2012 22:47

I'm not bitter & twisted. I don't think people realise the effect that they have on their families.

ThymeLord · 26/06/2012 22:47

Hasn't there just been a programme on viva about this exact issue?

MadStaringEyes · 26/06/2012 22:50

Orchids, what weight would you like me to be? Should we all.aim for the same size? Are us fatties not able to understand the effects our weight has on our lives?

Thank suck you're hear to show the why forward.

LookAtAllTheseFucksIGive · 26/06/2012 22:52

My nephew is having a terrible time at school because his mother is rastafarian. She should dress more conservatively and cut her dreads out shouldn't she?

SoleSource · 26/06/2012 22:53

That's what I meant, issues about weight. I'm sorry your neice is being bullied. I would want to slim for my child if not for me in that case. We al have issues and there are plenty of ugly married people too @ fut

ohchids · 26/06/2012 22:54

If there's been a programme made,good. Sorry,I deviated to family issues,and shouldn't have xx

Bunbaker · 26/06/2012 23:09

"They should put in a variety of seat sizes, it would make financial sense! Loads of people are bigger now."

I think there would be cost implications. If a row of seats on a ride could accommodate 12 averagely built people, but only ten higher than averagely built people, they would probably want to charge more per seat to get the same return.

It is embarrassing enough being squeezed into a small seat, but think how much more embarrassing it could be if you were weighed and then charged more for a ride.

Dee03 · 26/06/2012 23:41

Im a 22 top half and a 20 bottom half and i got on all the rides...3 years ago... I did worry beforehand tho Sad

SoleSource · 26/06/2012 23:57

Depends on height of the person aswell as the dress size:)

bubbub · 27/06/2012 11:04

ah the thin fascists. i am reading more and more comments from women who think they have a right to demand that everyone should be thin.

the worst thing in the world to be is fat isnt it, much worse than being mean, disrespectful, vain, rude, ugly on the inside... yeah much worse. in fact, what we should do, is get some kind of "fat island" and ship them off to live there, so they cant offend thin and socially appropriate people's eyes.

yeah! and then, once we have dealt with the fatties, then we can start on the smokers, ooh ooh, and then ugly people... hmm but ugly people dont cost the nhs money do they?
ok we can leave the ugly people,
but we will need to sort out those who do a lot of extreme sports, they cost the nhs LOADS of money, so we can ship them off too, um, oh yeah, how about people that drink? god that costs the nhs loads of money too! lets ship the drinkers to an island too! yeah fucking drinkers, and take the drug takers too of course!!!
now, whats left? of yeah, people that do diy!!!! they must cost a fortune over the course of time, ship them off.
how about women that wear heels?
people that drink too much coffee?

oh wait.... that just leaves me.

SueHeck · 27/06/2012 11:10

Well bloody said Bubbub!

Hope you have a great time!

Krumbum · 27/06/2012 11:11

Ffs the op comes on here to ask a simple question about a theme park and even them someone can't help but post something irrelevant about how fat people are terrible. It is literally inescapable, I wish I knew WHY people care sooo much about the weight of people they do not know, cos I don't give a fuck about the size of a stranger!
Why do people hate fat people so much they feel the need to seek them out to abuse them?!

SoleSource · 27/06/2012 11:11

Anorexics, nobody has mentioned them.

Krumbum · 27/06/2012 11:15

Brilliant bubbub : o

Bunbaker · 27/06/2012 11:21

ooer! I hope my comments weren't implying that I am a thin fascist. I just pointed out the practical realities.
