I sent some pictures of my son to a few modelling agency's and got an email back from this one.

www.talentmanagement.com

Saying they would like to take him through to the next panel.

Me being a tad cynical, thinks this might be a scam hmm. AIBU?

is your hmm meant to be a link?

bogeyface · 24/06/2012 17:31

It depends, are they asking for any money? Are they saying you must pay to get through to the next stage?

If not then I dont see how it is a scam, what would they get out of it?

TapirBackRider · 24/06/2012 17:32

According to the google search I've just done, yes it is.

Bubbless · 24/06/2012 17:33

website looks okay, quiet easy to navigate.. i dont think its a scan
(usually scams have shitty websites!)

alfiemama · 24/06/2012 17:35

Sorry not a linky. Just bad typing Grin should have been a smiley.
I will give them a ring tomorrow and see what the score is. It's only just come through so too late to ring.
Thanks everyone.

Bubbles, I thought the website looked legit. You just never know these days.

If this is the agency that asks for a fee to pass your details on, and also the 'admin fee' of a minimum of £10 per month, plus registration fee, then I'd suggest doing what I've just done ^^ and having a look at the reviews.

Not all scams are scrappy - some are amazingly good; all the better to fleece you with.

Guiltypleasures001 · 24/06/2012 17:41

I googled this agency and I think they have been investigated by the sun newspaper in one guise or another, and various forums with complaints and scams against them.

invicta · 24/06/2012 17:41

The website looks good. However, they seem to take anyone and everyone, so how can thy expect to find jobs for everyone I think the general advice that if they ask for money upfront, then avoid. I guess a one- ff registration fee is okay, but if thy repeatedly ask or money, or ask for huge amounts, then avoid.

alfiemama · 24/06/2012 17:46

I take it is the same Tapir? I think I will avoid Grin thanks you guys. I knew you would all know.

OP posts:
TapirBackRider · 24/06/2012 17:50

Yes it appears to be exactly the same, just that the name changes every so often. I think I remember an episode of Watchdog about them (back in the mists of time)

Smile
bogeyface · 24/06/2012 17:52

Actually, I take it back. Having googled them, yes they are scammers.

they will charge you for registration and then you wont hear another word.

alfiemama · 24/06/2012 17:55

They're not as clever as they think Grin
Thanks again everyone. I will wait and see if the others get in touch.

Sorry ladies, we have received another two this morning.

Anyone heard of Tuesday's child and Model Mode Agency (MMA)

They do look legit but one is asking for money for registration. (Tuesday's Child) the other MMA is free and a free shoot. However, they give you an option to buy the shots.

Any ideas ladies?

Google is your friend. A quick google of Tuesdays Child shows a mixed bag. Some people saying their child got alot of work, some saying they go no work but some castings, and some saying it is a scam!

I do wonder if they do get work for genuinely suitable child models, but will take anyone on aslong as they pay the fee.

alfiemama · 25/06/2012 13:26

Thanks bogey, I have googled but still can't decide if legit Grin
Thanks verity, wow really. Scallywags looks good. I am just on the website, do they have to go for an interview?
We just want to do it for fun. He likes entertaining and looks good, so why not.
The minute he starts getting disappointed or anything, then we will stop.

WorraLiberty · 25/06/2012 13:37

If he likes entertaining, how about a local drama group?

alfiemama · 25/06/2012 13:52

I've tried that Woral, but he is only 5 and the ones around here are for 6 and over.

Forgot to say, I have sent off for Stagecoach though.

This model agency crops up from time to time on here. The fees seem quite low for a professional modeling assignment. How much commission do they take? Do you have to provide your own wardrobe of clothes? Do they pay travel costs and a fee for auditions?

Send some photos to a top agency and they will truthfully tell you if your son has the 'look'. Elizabeth Smith. Can he sing, swim or dance that always helps to get work. If successful you can build up a nice little nest egg for your son that will be handy for uni, driving lessons, first car.
