for lying to my friends to go home early on a night out in town

i went out with some friends last night and we had all been looking forward to it and planning it for ages

however i was bored by about 10pm. the music was too loud, my feet were hurting, i was tired, we couldn't even talk as it was so loud and there was just no vibe IYSWIM. and all i kept thinking was, i'm going to be knackered all day tomorrow and have a hangover for the sake of a shit night.

so i feigned an emergency at home Blush about half 11 and went home

i feel REALLY bad for lying to them all and also wondering if i am Just Getting Too Old for nights out in town now especially given the reasons above why i wasnt enjoying it

rock n roll eh. god 5 years ago i used to be out till 6am most friday nights.

YANBU to want to go home if you weren't enjoying yourself. But you were wrong to lie. Just be honest. If your friends would have given you a hard time, then they'd need to grow up and learn a bit of empathy.

Oh I lie constantly. I have the stamina of a gnat these days - I always seem to reach the tired/feet hurt/too loud/is the hangover going to be worth it stage before anyone else.

You're a better woman than me Gunga Din.

(Friday night, jammied by 10:30pm Wink )

I've done the same before. I think I have different groups of friends for different things - some are fun on nights out, others I prefer to go for lunch/coffee with.

NBU at all. Personally i don't think you're BU for the fib either. If it makes life easier for whatever reason.

Even in my late 20s (aeons ago) i can remember distinctly deciding i was only going to go on girls nights out once a month from now on as every-other week was getting too much.

Untill my mid 30s it was ok once in a blue moon if i was with people that i could really let my hair down with, and i felt safe. After a few drinks i seem to attract weirdos!

Last couple of years i've really shied away from the whole 'night out on the piss' scenario. I'd rather have a good tipple, get plastered and watch some films with my DH at home, and crawl upstairs together when the time is right Grin
