to think if you convert your front garden in to a drive you should actually be able to park your car there?

Loads of people near us have converted their front gardens to allow for off street parking and at the same time making their houses look hideous but some of the houses around here are fairly small Victorian semis with small front garden really only big enough to accommodate a Fiesta sized car, yet the people living there have giant estates or 4x4s that are too big for the space. Three houses in my road have the whole front of the car up to the middle of the front doors sticking in to the pavement. Do the council ever check these things?

it's not just a case of bad parking by the way, just not enough space. It means you have to walk in the road to get around these cars.

I only wish I had more than the 2' of front garden that I have. I'd love a magnolia but DH says over his dead body. To be fair we have a lovely cherry with beautiful peeling bark in the back garden so I can't complain too much. Grin

It's a nasty habit, and as NowThen rightly says, vulgar.

Report away. Take photos. And watch with glee as they get their tickets. But remember - once all those chelsea tractors park on the road again there'll be no space for you!

Who do you report to and how ? Or how do you find out?

I've taken note of the photo idea.

The houses in our street all have drives which two cars can fit in yet many still park in the street over the pavement. This was a sometimes a pain when I had a double pushchair and a nightmare when I had DH in a wheelchair for few months. I just got on with it.

Recently one particular car been parking so I can't get a single pushchair past. This was a pain but again I've just got on with it easier as needing single pushchair is now rare. Now they are parking so you can't even walk past on the pavement.

I seen them once their car door blocking pavement access completely as they loaded their two DC in - leaving me with my DC and another persons waiting politely on the pavement to get past. No apology no letting us get past till they were done.

It's not just me being inconvenienced as it a busy pavement but this is suddenly getting on my nerves and I'm up and down the street a lot. It's almost getting as annoying as the dog mess over our drive and front garden and every few paces on the few streets to school.

buttonmoon they can park their Chelsea tractors against their dropped kerb. They're only blocking their own drive so can't cause an obstruction to anyone else. So long as they're not blocking the pavement when they do it.

Hexenbiest do you have a none emergency police number to ring? We sometimes get a card through the door with this number on it. If not a council number to ring although IME they said this was a police matter not a council one and to ring the local police. (who were happy to get involved)

No photo's involved here. I think they probably had to see it to ticket it.

Thanks CaptainVonTrapp.

Be a good place to start.

It's a bit unclear who has what with traffic enforcement in our area and I know it changed since we move here few years ago. I am now irritated enough to find out Grin.

headfairy oddly I did read that in your post but then erased that from my mind when typing Blush

Get reporting though. It's irritating.

Whilst waiting at the doctors on Friday I saw a lorry get a ticket. It was delivering bricks and had reversed into a driveway but was blocking the pavement with its entire cab. The driver was most unimpressed :o
