for Wickerty blog.peta.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/PETA_AP_ad_hires_0618.jpg

I think there is a huge difference between a dog that clearly enjoys performing and is clearly loved by his owner and a tiger taken from the wild, forced to perform, never allowed to exhibit natural behaviour.

I'm sure Pudsy gets the chance to run around a park, I bet circus animals don't.

Tee2072 · 22/06/2012 05:45

It's PETA. They base most of their ideals on hypocrisy. They ate a vile organisation who use vile tactics to make themselves feel superior.

I'm not a bit surprised.

People for the Eating of Tasty Animals

ripsishere · 22/06/2012 06:14

I agree with getting wild animals out of circus' but fail to see how that is even remotely similar to Pudsey's situation.
Even though I can't see the attraction of dancing dogs and find it a bit odd. It isn't even the dog dancing, it's the owner.

Morloth · 22/06/2012 08:53

I think expecting anything other than stupid shenanigans from PETA is possibly setting the bar a bit high.

everybodysang · 22/06/2012 09:56

I got a begging letter from PETA yesterday, something to do with a survey on pets, or something like that. Anyway, attached to it was a 5p piece, and it said "we are sending you this 5p to show we value your opinion", or some similar nonsense. The 5p went in the charity box for the local air ambulance at the post office. I don't even mind PETA that much, though I personally don't support animal charities. I just thought it was weird.

PandaWatch · 22/06/2012 10:54

PETA may be too extreme in some respects but at least they highlight the atrocities being committed against animals and they have been fundamental in moving forward with animal rights (e.g. better conditions for battery chickens, getting places like Harvey Nicolls to ban fois gras).

And it is ridiculous to compare Pudsey to a wild animal used in a circus.

YABVU.

PandaWatch · 22/06/2012 10:56

Just two examples off the top of my head btw - no means exhaustive!

ScarletLadyOfTheNight01 · 22/06/2012 11:10

I'm in two minds about PETA. I agree with a lot of their ethics as I'm very pro-animal rights, but they do tend to go about things in the wrong way.

I don't think this ad is hypocritical though. There's a massive difference. Pudsey is a loved and valued pet that is enjoying himself. The same cannot be said for wild circus animals.

Birdsgottafly · 22/06/2012 11:10

Can you clarify what you are asking OP, Ashleigh is against any animal cruelty and has always spoken out about inhumaine treatment, particulary in regards to dogs.

This is a campaign against Circus animals and she has written to oversea's government about the treatment of street dogs and the eating of them.

PETA isn't comparing her act to Circus animals.

YABU

WorraLiberty · 22/06/2012 11:21

FFS he does a few doggy tricks with an owner who clearly loves and cares for him.

It's not like he's having to wait on tables or sell his body to get through acting school....

WorraLiberty · 22/06/2012 11:22

Although no doubt he'd earn considerably more money if he did Lol
