When people say or write 'of' when they mean 'have'?

I'm not normally a pedant but this makes me claw at my eyes.

PS- I did say that I realise I am not perfect, but I do think school should be.

I do KNOW that I'm not a PREFECT but I do think A school should HAVE THEM.

The one thing thing well one of the things that gets to me is THERE, THEIR, THEY'RE.

I shall type this VERY slowly! They ALL begin the THE.

Here and there is the first one, if it isn't here it must be there, not their or they're.

Their belongs to them and they're is a shortened version of they are.

See that isn't so hard, is it?

HecateAdonaea · 21/06/2012 06:25

slow - seeing as?

it's a (subordinating?) conjunction, the same as 'because'

It doesn't annoy me so to speak, but mixing up homophones (as opposed to typos) demonstrates that the writer doesn't read a lot and probably hasn't received a very high level of education.

So, I judge, and also feel a bit sorry for that person because I know that every recruiter/employer will do the same and therefore that person's options in life will be very limited.
