I am a sahm- i chose my path because it was what both my dh and myself had when we were younger- feels natural to me. I had a good career which I could return to when I please. I love having time with kids, being part of pta etc, no way would I say my friends who are working mothers are wrong etc- its their choice, they make time for their children in different ways, plus financially they may need to work altho a few of my friends who do work are not in this catagory they just choose to work.

I feel a bit put out that cherie thought that sahm are a bunch of 'yummie mummies' who has comprised their womens lib status!

I know there has been a lot press regarding the harm working mothers have on their children but i think thats a load of rubbish, I am not advocating either decision I just wish sometimes people would keep their controversial opinions to themselves as they effective make one side feel crap!

I think living your life through your children is unhealthy . My MIL did it, never worked a day, her DH left her and she lives in poverty and bitterness waitiing for the phone to ring. I know many mothers who live like this, always sacrificing for their children, having no life at all of their own, kids dressed to the nines, them dressed in whatever comes to hand.
I don't think it's in anyone's interest to be like that but I don't actually care how other people live, TBH.
