To hate my freezer with a passion

My freezer has a fault that means it needs defrosting every six months or so. Trouble is that it is meant to be self-defrosting so you need to remove 2 layers of back panels and then hairdryer it to get 3 inches of ice out from between the cooling elements. If I don't it will just bring itself up to room temperature. Sorry to those of you with real problems, but I just wanted a moan between sessions of sitting on a loo step with my head in the freezer. Grrrrrr

It sounds a lot like my freezer

I've never considered it had a fault though, I just thought twice a year sounded about right.

I'm weird anyway, I actually love attacking it with a hair dryer and an ice pic Grin

Treat yourself to a new freezer!

We're getting our kitchen done and I am having TWO fridge freezers, so am happy to dispense advice on this subject Wink

I have two freezers. They both need defrosting now and then. They are both, apparently, frost free.

fairyqueen · 18/06/2012 21:45

I an chilled. I've had my head in a freezer for 45 minutes! What I would like is to persuade myself to defrost it before it starts beeping to tell me it's reached room temp. I actually like defrosting smooth bits, it's the bits around the sharp metal panel that cuts my hands I hate. Anyway, it's done now, so I'm going to treat myself to pimms and the David tenant drama that was on last night. I think I deserve it.

Yanbu to moan, defrosting freezers has to be one of the mot boringjobs ever

MammaTJ · 19/06/2012 19:29

I put a couple of bowls of boiling water in mine. It takes a while and they need replacing every now and again but it is so much less backbreaking easier than with a hairdryer.
