... to keep this doctor's appointment

Hmm. This is probably as much a WWYD as an AIBU.

About 3 - 4 weeks ago I discovered a patch of red spots on one of my big toes. Within days they had spread to most of the other toes on that foot. And they had started to itch. After two weeks the toes on both feet were covered with these nasty itchy spots so I decided I should do something about it.

I rang for a doctor's appointment and found that the first available one was alomost a week and a half away, i.e. I rang on the 11th and my appointment was not until the 20th. Given the way this rash, or whatever it is, was spreading I was convinced that my whole foot would be covered by then.

Except it isn't. On the contrary, in the last few days the spots have started to dry up and then rub off. The originally affected toes are now almost clear and I only have a few patches of spots left on both feet. At this rate they might be nearly all gone by Wednesday!

So - do I cancel my appointment on the grounds that the "whatever it is" will clear itself up without medical help?

Or do I keep the appointment, show the doctor what is left of the problem and see if they can tell me what it was and what I should do if it flares up again?

On the one hand I don't want to waste a doctor's time. On the other, it is hardly my fault I had to wait so long to be seen that I just got better - and I would quite like to know what it was and what to do if it happens again.

So WWYD?

Was it between toes? Could have been athlete's foot.

If you think it's getting better, cancel your appointment so that someone else can use it.

Keep the appointment so you can find out what it was and what you can do if it reoccurs. If you don't keep it sods law dictates it will occur again.

Personally, I'd rather ask a pharmacist. You don't have to book an appointment and if they aren't sure they tell you to go to the doctor anyway. But if it turns out to be something simple, then they can help.

But manicbmc I don't want to have to take my shoes and socks off in the middle of Boots.

And it wasn't between the toes it was on top of them

Well if the rash isnt there anymore the doctor wont be able to tell anyway!
