To bloody hate Vodafone and their useless coverage?

Well I know I'm not so I don't know why I asked the question really...

I am so sick of never having any signal! I even paid fifty quid for their signal booster box but that only works when it feels like it!

However I can still use the Internet off our router, thank god. WIBU to request some of my bloody monthly rip off fees back in lieu of shite service?

That is if I can be bothered to have to explain it all very slowly and carefully with words of one syllable to somebody in Egypt or India who says 'computer says no' when I don't follow their script.

Grrr...

YASNBU. Vodafone connection is useless.

Nanny0gg · 17/06/2012 11:54

Not where I live.
I specifically changed to Vodaphone because I could never get a signal with O2 or Orange.

I'm with you, OP. Vodafone is the best bet here, but I still have to have the SureSignal box and that works only when it feels like it. (Glad its not just me, then)

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 17/06/2012 12:11

It just annoys me when I have to report a fault again and they have to do something their end again for it to work. It takes ages on the phone, you have to explain yourself two or three times to each person they put you through to, and because you're speaking to someone in Egypt you then lose the connection, they cut you off and you have to start the whole tedious mind-numbing process again!

And then they can't understand you because oh no, the boxes work perfectly, we don't have a script for what to do with that complaint because we're not paid to actually think or problem solve.....

Yup me too. I live 17 miles outside London and my signal is crap. On the isle of wight now and it's non existent.

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 17/06/2012 12:18

I'm now online and slowly dying while I wait for the chat person to answer me. I'm sure they're doing their best though. or just sat there reading a magazine, how the hell do I know

Oh and GwendolineMaryLacey not jealous of you at all for being on the Isle of Wight. my day just gets better and better

I'm actually sat here waiting to get on my treadmill. Feel frustrated at being kept waiting whilst at the same time glad to be putting it off. Weird.

I have recently [over past week] been having issues with my signal with T-Mobile. Seems to be out of range a lot of the time and I have never had this issue before [in about 10 years of being with T-Mobile]...

So not sure if these issues are somehow linked and there is something going on with the networks in general?

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 17/06/2012 13:18

There might be.

Great name btw!

Ok so the nice indian lady told me she'd spoken to tech support and would be sending me a list of things to ask my internet provider. Port numbers, basically.

I said but my internet is fine, it still works on the phone as well.

No, she insisted that they would sort it out for me.

The very nice english man from Plusnet laughed and said yes Vodafone always redirect customers to their internet provider and they obviously had a major fault a couple of weks ago because they were innundated with Vodafone customers complaining about SureSignal boxes. It's nothing to do with the internet, all the ports are already open, there's no signal blockage and if it's working on the phone then clearly, it's fine.

Another nice indian person at Vodafone, although apparently from tech support this time, told me to run a broadband speed test. That was fine. He said it's obviously not the internet then. I said no, obviously not. He said give it a couple of hours, although he didn't say specifically why, and then ring them again. Presumeably it might suddenly spring to life?

I just think it's faulty. Nobody appears to want to send me a new one though. Would that just be too easy?

What the hell do I do now?

Sorry, I'm on Vodafone because they have the best signal. Now OH is with 3 and that is utter crap.

vnmum · 18/06/2012 14:33

we had similar with DH. He was on vodafone. moved to a new area and had no signal what so ever. Rang vodafone numerous times, they kept telling him the same things to try despite it not working. Then offered him a sure signal box. He told them that there was no point because he needed a signal at work (across the road) and the box wouldn't help with that. After numereous calls, they eventually knocked a fiver off the bill. we had to get another contract with o2 so we could have a signal and then had to pay for 2 contracts until the vodafone one had reached it's term as they wouldn't let us cancel it despite there being no signal.

Their customer service is crap but then again I was with 3 and so is theirs. It doesn't help that you rarely get to speak to an english person as their call centres are based abroad

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 18/06/2012 14:34

Result!

I just rang the account support number and got through to another indian lady but obviously one with a brain this time who was lovely. Admittedly I went off on a bit of a rant explaining how I'd spoken to at least three different people as well as the poor Plusnet guy, and she couldn't have been more helpful. She immediately said she'd just send me a new box and she'd put £20 credit on my account for all the inconvenience! Which I wasn't expecting at all.

I did apologise for ranting, obviously, as it's not her fault, but she was loveliness itself and didn't try to fob me off. When the new box comes and works perfectly, I'm going to email them and let them know!

Nice to know Vodafone does have some intelligent employees that don't need to follow a script. Smile

Crossed posts with vnmum

I did look up the terms and conditions once, and it said they cannot be held responsible for a lack of coverage. So basically they're happy to keep charging you for a service that they can't guarentee will work. Can you iamgine that happening with any other service provider?

"Hello madam, this is your grocery delivery. Can't promise we'll deliver your weekly shop but we'll still have to charge you for the attempt." Hmm
