Yes I am probably BU - DH "dieting"

This probably shouldn't annoy me but it DOES.

DH started a diet today. He'd heard about it on radio 2 and bought the book, when we went food shopping we bought things he'd require (nothing crazy, just things we don't usually get, like brown rice).

He's supposed to avoid milk, caffeine, sugar and anything processed for a few days and he's had non decaf coffee with milk and sugar, squash and an ice-cream!

Yes I know it's not my diet, but it's day one FGS! It was his idea, he's been on about it for a couple of weeks! In my defence I am 38 weeks pregnant (and no this is definitely not the worst thing I have to worry about).

So please tell me I'm not that U to be annoyed.

Just leave him to it.

mynewpassion · 16/06/2012 22:17

It takes a bit of time to wean yourself off those things. Not many people can do cold turkey.

AgentZigzag · 16/06/2012 22:17

Is it that he's doing it that's bothered you, or him going on about it?

If it's him going on about it, he's probably just psyching himself up and it'll calm down in time.

Anything annoying you when you're 38 weeks and you're NBU Grin

HappyCamel · 16/06/2012 22:18

That would annoy me too, but then almost all of us eat habitually or without thinking and lots of people have very little knowledge of nutrition or what is in food. I'd leave him to it though although you could eat the rest of the ice cream, just to remove temptation, of course.

WorraLiberty · 16/06/2012 22:18

Not sure what being pregnant has to do with it?

Yes it sounds annoying but just ignore him and leave him to it.

BellaDesconocida · 16/06/2012 22:19

I knew I was BU, you're right, I will smile and say nothing. I was expecting him to do the whole caboodle at once & feel he's wasted a day. It's only a day!

his best bet is to go onto skimmed milk, frozen yoghurt, and avoid the squash.. and brown rice is bloody horrible, you can tell him that from me! Grin

MammaTJ · 16/06/2012 22:43

Smile and say nothing!! He is boosting himself up to be maximum health for the birth!!

BarredfromhavingStella · 16/06/2012 23:45

Meh, dh has had me pissing about making him a salad rather than sarnies to take to work for his lunch-this is then clearly cancelled out by the kebab he has on Thursdays & Ben & Jerry's at the weekend, fucked off? Just slightly Angry

rhondajean · 17/06/2012 00:10

Oh no brown rice is fab - you have to get used to it, then eating white is like candy floss without the sugariness, you feel cheated by it.

It's nutty and flavoursome too. Yummmm.

His diet sounds good if he gets onto it! Best way to cut all those things is cold turkey - expect a couple of days of headaches and bad moods and then he should feel so much better and have tons more energy. I do it every so often - cold turkey - but the. Gradually reintroduce and end up bad as ever Sad

Yabu, judgypants!

Greatauntirene · 17/06/2012 08:17

That's the problem with diets. YOu think about food all the more then end up eating the stuff you should be avoiding.

BigFatCushion · 17/06/2012 08:22

I thought it might be the Harcombe diet. I heard her on Radio 2 too.

I think being around people dieting can be annoying actually. Especially if they're 'faddy' and have an influence on the rest of the family.
