Every year, the Eden Project have bands playing. The tickets are mega dear - £35 each + £5 booking. You are not allowed to take anything food or drink wise in (soft or alcoholic), and have to buy drinks tokens to buy their overpriced drinks. Their food is hideously expensive, i.e. £6 for a slice of pizza.

Anyway, I bought six tickets to take the whole family and two of my son's friends to see Chase and Status for his birthday in July, the concert is July 4th. Eden project have now sent an email out saying they have reduced prices to £20 each, meaning I have spent £90 more than any later purchasers. To add insult to injury, some people pay a premium to have advance purchasing of tickets so they are even more out of pocket.

I have contacted the box office, they will not be refunding any of the earlier purchsers.

This is grossly unfair, does anyone know if there is any comeback or I have to suck it up and just not line the money grabbing bastards pockets again?

Clearly there isnt a lot of interest in this event, so they are trying to flog the tickets cheaper..

Just like airlines do with their tickets too.

Back again, sorry to post and run but work can inconveniently get in the way of my forum surfing/posting!

I do take exception to Worraliberty's descrption of "people like you" - do you mean people who want to treat their children for a birthday? This was a requested birthday gift, and meant that it was the only gift he had due to the expense. To then have money knocked off it now is galling, regardless of the rights or wrongs of it, or whatever sort of "people" buy them.

Yes I get the point about paying what I thought it was worth etc. and as the concert he wanted to go to - Blink 182 - sold out really quick, I thought I should get the tickets in.

However, if they do this year after year (apparently it happened last year as well), why don't they reduce the price of their tickets to, say £28 instead of making some people pay £35 and some pay £20? I am sure the tickets would then sell out, as they don't let children under 16 in without adults, so adults have no choice but to buy a ticket for themselves if they want to take their children.

On the bright side, there is someone on ebay, who obviously thought it was going to sell out and has been trying to sell tickets for £80 each haha - at least I can take solace in the thought he/she will be considerably more pissed off than me.

Josephine you know Innocent give quite a lot of their profit to local charities, right....

FedUpOfRain · 15/06/2012 17:28

Sorry OP, but I think it's completely normal for places to bring the price down if they are not selling. Like you said, Blink 182 did sell out, so many people obviously thought it was a reasonable price. Maybe this band just isint as popular.

diddl · 15/06/2012 17:28

If they do this every year, then do they reduce tickets after they have sold enough at full price to cover their costs?

Not sure what the venue is like, but is 40GBP really that much to see a band?

BuntyPenfold · 15/06/2012 17:34

Eden Project is a big rip-off anyway.

It's quite a nice greenhouse, but hardly a day out. For kids, it's like a zoo with no animals or a theme park with no rides.
