to whine and moan about my hot flushes?

Because I have been alternately whining and laughing, really. And it's occurred to me that I might in fact be acting like the sort of person of whom my mother always says 'The only trouble with her is, when you ask her how she is she tells you...'

That why I avoid hrt too. My sister is dying following breast cancer.

BasilDonna · 14/06/2012 16:17

I may or may not have bought all the sage tablets in my local Boots.
I will, however chase them down with some wine.
I'm not taking this laying down!

ExitPursuedByABear · 14/06/2012 16:17

Ooh - just realised that I haven't had a flush for a few days now. Hurrah!

During the recent spell of hot weather there where times when I didn't know if I was just hot, or hot flushing.

Agree - more wine is the way forward - but it has caused me to almost double in size in the last 12 months.

ExitPursuedByABear · 14/06/2012 16:18

Oh Pag - so sorry to read that.

BasilDonna · 14/06/2012 16:19

Oh and, SGB, meno/peri is murder on the joints.
One of the classic symptoms.

BasilDonna · 14/06/2012 16:20

Bear, how?
Just how?

ExitPursuedByABear · 14/06/2012 16:20

Is that why I can hardly walk?

BasilDonna · 14/06/2012 16:21

bear, could be.
Or you could just have uncomfortable shoes on.
Hard to say.
Grin

ExitPursuedByABear · 14/06/2012 16:22

How what? The weight? It's all the sugar I presume. I have posted before about sitting in my car one day and I could feel all the cells in my back and my thighs sort of zinging as they expanded. I now have back fat Sad. Did you watch 56UP? There was one lady who had looked OK in 49UP and by 56 she had done that expanding round the middle thing - tis too depressing, and makes me want to eat a Welsh cake with butter and jam.

NinaHeart · 14/06/2012 16:23

I've got strangely fat too. All round my middle where it never used to be.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 14/06/2012 16:23

NinaHeart, wow. Nine years. I am v v lucky mine only lasted for 2 yrs or so. I don't really know because my menopause was so early (4 years ago at age 38) it never even crossed my mind that that was what was going on. I jusst thought my pajamas were too warm or something. Ha!

Mind you, I am on HRT for osteoperosis risk. No history of breast cancer in my family, so my GP considered it better that way.

No periods is BLISS.

Pagwatch · 14/06/2012 16:24

Yy Exit. The desire to just think 'fuck it' and eat cake is becoming overwhelming.

Thanks too.

BasilDonna · 14/06/2012 16:24

Bugger, I have back fat.
Won't shift.
Managed to get it off my arse with with hours of exercise, and it seem to have taken residence higher up.
No, the flushes?

cocolepew · 14/06/2012 16:34

Sorry to hear about your sister Pag x.

cocolepew · 14/06/2012 16:35

Its the roll of fat under my bra at the front that gets me. Its like Im growing extra boobs.

Pagwatch · 14/06/2012 16:37

Thanks coco.

The weight piling on is a nightmare. I have got a grip of it now but having been the same weight for bloody decades I just put on a stone and a half in about three months.
At one point I had about three things in my wardrobe that fitted me.

ExitPursuedByABear · 14/06/2012 16:38

Have you managed to lose weight Pag? I have sort of given up as I never see any results.

Pagwatch · 14/06/2012 16:43

Yeah. I am back down near pre-blow out weight. Low carb, less wine and a personal trainer twice a week.
I did it mostly because my back was fucked and being bigger was making it worse. The training is a lot of strength building to stop me pulling my back so often iyswim.
But it is twice as hard to get results twice as slowly.
The cake option feels quite attractive a lot of the time tbh

ExitPursuedByABear · 14/06/2012 16:44

I was already overweight before the menopause hit, so now it seems like Everest to scale.

Well done for your determination.

BasilDonna · 14/06/2012 16:46

I went shopping for a new bra and it seems I went I size up. Hmm
Not a cup size, I must add.

MardyBra · 14/06/2012 17:11

I've been getting such bad night sweats I might have to think about washing my sheets occasionally Wink.

quoteunquote · 14/06/2012 17:18

Quote, I'm in awe, you're a genius

thank you,

NinaHeart · 14/06/2012 18:16

I love a good menopause thread. All the bright young things on here (and elsewhere) think it will never happen to them.... HA!

FairToMiddlin · 14/06/2012 18:31

It is a cruel, cruel trick of nature that gives you the freedom from periods with one hand and robs you of the figure to wear white pants on the other.

diddl · 14/06/2012 18:43

Oh the weight-HELP.

Atm I take the dog out three times a day, bike to the swimming pool, swim 20 lengths(50m pool)-& I have put on!!!!
