First post in AIBU please be gentle :)

I have 3 children who seem to grow at an alarming rate, they are getting to the stage of looking like they are going wading/attempting to be muscle men so in desperate need of new outfits. I have some cashback and vouchers so have just shopped online for clothes. Jeans, footwear and jackets for the boys and footwear, tops and jacket for daughter. My nan has just been chatting to me in general and said as its my youngest birthday in August I should keep it as presents rather than just give to him. I feel abit mean doing this since the other two are getting and he does need the clothes!. I should point out that they were in the sale so got the whole lot for seventy quid which included 4 pairs of shoes. Am i being frivelous and should keep some back as presents or trust my own judgement and carry on :)

Children need clothes, give them to him now. I don't count clothes as presents unless for babies with too many toys or older kids that want specific logos that cost more.

Oh, YANBU :)

Carry on!! Kids don't get excited about getting clothes for birthdays anyway! YANBU at all.

Very impressed at your resourceful purchasing btw, £70 for clothed and shoes for 3 is amazing...think I might commission you!! [Smile]

Haha i have well and truly taken advantage of the end of season sale of major catologue, i wondered if i should be a bit stingier and keep maybe a jacket or some trainers for birthday but since all you wise ladies think im right ill just tell my nan i did :P Haha. I cant imagine my ds who is 5 being thrilled about clothes unless they are mario or can transform into a ben 10 alien :)

YANBU

Unless a child specifically asks for clothing for a Birthday, it's not a Birthday present....it's a parent palming off clothing as a Birthday present Lol.

Yeah i was thinking that, i do buy him infact all three of them clothes for birthdays but it would probably be a certain thing like a hoody with their favourite character on or a specific item theyd said they liked not just everyday items. My nan loves to think of ways to save money/ roll much needed essentials into birthday items to save buying a present :P
