According to reports on todays news live sheep will be used in the Olympic Opening ceremony. Its supposed to depict 'rural' England!

Poor sheep will be scared shitless. I am horrified that these poor sensitive creatures are being exploited for entertainment.

No animals should ever be used as entertainment.

Disgraceful.

I hope they barbecue them afterwards

Those poor vegans, with all the bright lights and the fireworks. They'll be bewildered!

I'm sure there was a scandal a while back about the RSPCA's Freedom Food's farms not always being humane. There were piss poor conditions in a large pig farm iirc. That said, I do think the animals used in the ceremony will be well cared for, and will have hopefully have had desensitisation training to the noise in advance.

I personally think dog and horse racing are cruel, but don't ave a problem with show jumping, dressage etc or dog agility.

OP, do you hav any pets? Do you disapprove of horse riding generally? Not having a go just interested.

The RSPCA try to do a good job under usually difficult conditions but fall very short regularly due to stupid laws in this country.

As long as they animals are not being physically harmed then the RSPCA will do F all but few people seem to care about the psychological effect on these shy, sensitive creatures.

And any way what gives us 'superior' humans the right to force these sentient beautiful beings to do completely un natural things like this ridiculous ceremony?

Can't help wondering who will clear up the mess made by all these animals. No doubt Some poor individual bussed in and stranded at 3am and doing it for the glory of the olympics and some work experience.
