To spend £150 a month on gym membership

I know it's loads of money - it would be for the whole family ( me DH two DC).

The gym is really close to us, it would give us somewhere to go during the many days of pissing rain during the school holidays and it is on the way to DHs work so he could pop there before or after for a quick swim. It's got tennis courts, badminton and lots of Kids classes.

We already spend about £50 a month going to the council pool.

But Christ it is LOADS of money. I'm soooooo tempted - but several friends have told me I am nuts to even consider it.

AIBU to even consider it?

If we had a David Lloyds near us then I would be tempted to pay for it. We had membership before we moved house.

Shock I pay £26.00 per month for 4 (1 adult, 3 kids) this includes swimming, kids after school actives, gym, fitness classes for me like Zumba, Metafit, Piyo.

If you can afford it fair enough but sacrificing a holiday no way. I'd never pay £150 pm.

YANBU, if you can afford it and USE it. If you use it can be very good value for money in terms on not having to shell out for other activities.
We spend £140/mth on ours and it is no where near as good as a David Lloyds. I wish we had one near us!

Prekids i did david lloyds and used it near daily so it was worth it. If you are all going to use it and if the kids stuff is great and if it is going to enhance your family life then do it.

I pay close to that for a single membership Blush but it's the going rate for gyms around here, and working out is a big part of my life (4-5 times a week for the last twenty years).

I think it's a positive choice to make for your family, as long as you can afford the fees.

Our DL family membership is about the same price, same-ish age kids plus one on the way.

I have to say that it is one of the best, most used things that comes out of our account. At least one of us is there almost everyday of the week.

Eg this week

Monday- DH went for a workout
Tuesday-I went swimming
Wednesday-DH went for a workout
Thursday-We all went swimming
Friday-DH and I went swimming
Saturday-We took DD swimming as DS was out for the day
Sunday-We will all go swimming

Admittedly, there is a lot of swimming going on this week, but that is due to the weather more than anything. We have all done classes (except for DD as she has SN's and doesn't cope well).

DH also lost a lot of weight and is now a far fitter, healthier person because of the gym. He was the one that needed convincing and yet he probably goes more than any of us!!

Worth every penny if you make use of it.
