They rile me every time so I NEED you to help me understand because I just don't get it... Why do you 'lick it'? Why oh why? I feel like I'm missing something enormous. Genuinely, I feel really quite thick. You open up a biscuit, lick the inside, then put it back together again to eat. WHYYYYYYYYYY?!!!!

If you can tell me I'm being unreasonable to simply not get it - and spend 5 minutes after each time I see it trying to, angrily, fathom it - then please, step forward...

Fig rolls = delish.

That Oreo advert - totally creepy and wrong....the breathy voice, the leaning in, the "first you lick it" with dad hanging sweatily on every word. Perhaps it's just me, but bleeueugghghg.

CelstialNavigation · 12/06/2012 21:59

I always thought American children liked them (in books) so that could stick 2 of them together after eating the tops and thus have one biscuit with more filling?

And this led to the company producing double-stuffed ones to capitalise on that?

Lacking any oreos in my childhood, I used bourbon creams to emulate them. A double-stuffed bourbon cream, now that would be well worth it.

CelstialNavigation · 12/06/2012 21:59

licked them, not just liked them...

GothAnneGeddes · 12/06/2012 22:05

Bourbon biscuits washed down with a Dr Pepper are perfect.

BatmanLovesCheese · 12/06/2012 22:08

Erm, yes...you've spotted it Brian
In the words of Joseph of Technicolour Dreamcoat fame, 'Any biscuit will do' Biscuit Biscuit Biscuit

Except Oreos, natch

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 12/06/2012 22:08

Just beware giving too many to your toddler. DD did the vilest Oreo poo the other day.

Westcountrylovescheese · 12/06/2012 22:13

....mmmm fig rolls...

BrianCoxhasSmellySox · 12/06/2012 22:45
Grin

Oreo poos? They should put a warning on the packet!

Newtothisstuff · 13/06/2012 01:59

They are soooo not that easy to twist apart, mine always breaks Sad

That girl is creepy I agree

nellyjelly · 13/06/2012 14:28

A fig roll is practically a cake though.

Glittertwins · 13/06/2012 18:02

Yum, fig rolls (I really am not fussy am I!)

PostBellumBugsy · 13/06/2012 18:08

Oreo ad disgusts me. If my children ever did that I would go mental. Taking a biscuit apart & licking it - gross, gross, gross!!!! They are horrid biscuits anyway - just chemicals & sugar.

JoannaFight · 13/06/2012 18:18

I also don't understand the Oreo licking ceremony. Blimey I tell my dc off if they start messing about with food like that

babbashouse · 13/06/2012 18:40

Exactly post bellum and joanna - truly disgusting.

Celstia thank you SO much for the potted history. It's a genuine relief to know. It was seriously hurting my head the not knowing WHY - though of course the current advert is about 'double stuffed' ones, so surely people can stop slobbering in them at this point, unless of course the new aspiration is 'quadruple stuffed'?!
