If you drive one in a city and are a man you almost certainly have a minuscule cock and probably haven't enjoyed non onanastic sexual relationships for a long time.

No actual evidence to prove this, bit it nevertheless remains a fact.

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 12/06/2012 15:44

Rip - my sis used to live in Abu Dhabi and when I went to see her we went camping in the desert (well more like a beach really) in Oman.......it was truely lovely :)

Joolyjoolyjoo · 12/06/2012 15:46

YANBU- you lot keep on paying ludicrous amounts of road tax, so I get to pay next to nothing for my dinky little micra Grin (which is also really economical to run)

I also get to nip into that wee space, while you guys go round and round the car park looking for a bus bay.

I have no problem with 4x4s, and looked into getting one myself before I got the micra, but it just wasn't practical for me. People take the piss out of me having such a little car, but I love it- especially the £££ it saves me! Each to their own- just try not to squash me!

RubberDuck · 12/06/2012 15:49

Pssst, Jooly. I have a 10-year-old micra that's still going strong and I love mine too Grin Micras are great around town and for parking.

GiserableMitt · 12/06/2012 15:55

I doubt it rip, I left there in 2005 and was only there a year Just when you mentioned Wahiba Wink. We were in Muscat, moved to the UAE. still fucking here

redrubyshoes · 12/06/2012 15:57

When I was waiting to pull out at a roundabout and a 4x4 driver smashed into the back of me at 50 mph I didn't like 4x4's. I drive a small car and the impact totally missed my bumper and smashed into the rear window of my car so I got the full impact.

Yes I did have a genuine whiplash that caused me problems for years.

YABU to like your 4x4.

Also I shop in a street where you park at an angle to the pavement so you have to drive in and not reverse. When there is a 4x4 parked either side of you it is literally a case of 'blind' reversing into a busy High Street.

bumperella · 12/06/2012 16:04

Micra's are great! Mine's 18 years old, still going great, and I live up a farm track in rural, hilly bit. Due to his advanced years, he now refuses to start at temperatures below -19C, but this is a (fairly new) virtue as it means I get to stay in the warmth until it heats up a bit.

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 12/06/2012 16:06

Ruby it could have been any car than smashed into you, you cant taint all 4x4 drivers just because one drove like a pillock.

Same with parking - I see loads of small cars parked in a real wanky way, some people just cant park no matter what they drive.

susitwoshoes · 12/06/2012 16:07

I live in inner-city London where they are a total menace. But I do get to enjoy myself ROFL as these idiots circle round for ever trying to find a parking space when I get to zip in a tiny one in my Ka. Which has been off-road from the Highlands to Cornwall. Incidentally, my BIL who lives in Cornwall (so snow not an issue I appreciate) says small cars are far better for getting round the lanes, huge cars again are a menace. I do recall one time meeting a one on a country lane and who was forced to go off-road to make way? Yes, that's right, not the 4x4 WHICH IS DESIGNED TO DO SO. Pain in the arse in car parks (you want to know why people get upset at not being able to park in a P&C space? Because if you're squashed between 2 4x4s the chances of being able to get your toddler out of the back seat of a 3-door car are miniscule).

Finally I would dispute that a bad driver is a bad driver whatever the car - the point is that a bad driver in a large car is far more dangerous, 4x4s are more dangerous that other cars in accidents anyway, particularly involving children as pedestrians. So your little darlings may be safer inside, other children on the street are far less safe.

Labootin · 12/06/2012 16:16

I have a Porsche Cayenne and live in a city (Dubai)
I don't even drive it myself as I'm too fecking lazy so have a driver.

I call Top Wanker Trumps

WhosPickleisThatOnion · 12/06/2012 16:17

Dubai dont count.

Got to be a poky city.

Not winning.

GiserableMitt · 12/06/2012 16:19

Ooh, Labootin, I'll be in your neck of the woods tomorrow. Had to decide which 4x4 to take on account of the parking where I'll be going. Will take the LC as it's tight parking lol!

Labootin · 12/06/2012 16:19

Arse

I mainly use it to do the illegal alcohol run .. ..do I get any more points?

Labootin · 12/06/2012 16:21

Giserable ..take up two spaces ..no one will mind

WhosPickleisThatOnion · 12/06/2012 16:22

No, that's commendable!

GiserableMitt · 12/06/2012 16:23

Hah! Barracuda is but 20 mins away and no SHJ to cross for me...

It's not the number of spaces (although 'abusing a white line' can get you a ticket dontcha know) but getting the fucking thing in the car park to start with.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 12/06/2012 16:25

bettyswollox but as ruby said, the height of the 4x4 meant that the impact didn't hit her bumper it hit above.

Labootin · 12/06/2012 16:26

excellent marketing stategy..take the kids to the waterpark and then stock up (and hide the booty with beach towels)

Ahem

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 12/06/2012 16:26

Not all cars are the same height!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 12/06/2012 16:27

Also, again:

UK insurance industry figures from Churchill show that urban 4x4s are involved in 25% more accidents than saloon cars and do far more damage.[2] Admiral Insurance also recently released figures showing that 4x4 drivers are 27% more likely to be at fault in the event of an accident .[3]

(my emphasis)

Labootin · 12/06/2012 16:28

We used to have a Dodge Durango ..it was like a lorry

(ponders potential alcohol delivery service)

GiserableMitt · 12/06/2012 16:29

We used to do that too but we live north of there now so no problem Wink

i can now throw caution to the wind and not have everything inside thick grey plastic bags.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 12/06/2012 16:30

Most cars are of a similar height so that when in an impact with another normal car the impact occurs in the area that it is designed to.

" The TRL blames the increasing mismatch between the size of vehicles on the road for a 1% rise in people killed in accidents in 2004. Passengers in 'super minis' were 12 times more likely to be killed than people in a 4x4 when these vehicles collided. The principal factor is the extra weight of the larger car, as well as extra height, which can override the bumpers and side impact protection on the smaller vehicle."

TRL= UK transport Laboratories

GiserableMitt · 12/06/2012 16:30

Centaurus from RAK do delivery but you need to be vouched for by someone.

Labootin · 12/06/2012 16:30

oh people can come up with statistics to prove anything,14% of people know that
