AIBU to make DP use the toilet on the landing (we live in an apartment) instead of our ensuite bathroom to do a poo?

There's a term for it in the Viz Profanosaurus. Log on a flume ride, or something.

BlackholesAndRevelations · 10/06/2012 18:02

Yes, YABU! I try to ask my oh to do poos downstairs if we're generally upstairs, and vice versa- but like someone se said, you can't "make" a grown up do anything!

(he does now say, "where am I allowed to do a poo?!" jokingly!)

LineRunner · 10/06/2012 18:17

Tell him to do a poo at Paul's house. That seems popular.

redexpat · 10/06/2012 19:37

YANBU. We have a no poos in the en suite rule.

WhosPickleisThatOnion · 10/06/2012 19:39

If he smells then no. I would want the stench of poo particles in my bedroom.

LineRunner · 10/06/2012 19:42

It is a conundrum.

ErikNorseman · 10/06/2012 19:56

Yanbu
I wouldn't have an en suite under any circumstances, because I wouldn't be able to ban DH from shitting in it. Honestly, even with window open, door closed and spray sprayed his shit still stinks out the immediate vicinity.

FariesDoExist · 10/06/2012 20:50

YANBU, especially if he stinks

I have tried to ban DP from pooing in our downstairs toilet because he takes ages to poo, and STINKS. As soon as I see him pick up a newspaper and head to the hallway I just know he's going for a stupid long half hour poo.

vincettenoir · 10/06/2012 21:24

I don't see why he shouldn't use the ensuite. I'm surprised so many people people seem ro be with you on this.

LineRunner · 10/06/2012 22:42

Oh my lord, the sheer romance of it all.

CaliforniaLeaving · 10/06/2012 22:53

This has to be one of the strangest things I've read here. I'm amazed so many have a no poo in the en suite rule Confused Dh won't go anywhere else, he can open the window and there are two doors between him and the hallway. Very quiet and private and we own a can of spray for any smells.

WhosPickleisThatOnion · 11/06/2012 12:13

Maybe it goes by how badly your DP stinks. Our loo is in the hall and the whole flat stinks after him. If I could I would make him poo in the woods like a bear.

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 11/06/2012 12:36

So you have an ensuite or you actually have to go out your front door, and your other loo in on the landing.........YABU

I am amazed that people dont do a poo in the ensuite - what the hell is it for?? How strange Confused

PuppyMonkey · 11/06/2012 12:42

Oh fab, another poo thread. Grin

YABU obviously. And like most of MN, you need some therapy regarding strange attitudes to perfectly normal bodily functions. Wink

I take it your poo smells of roses btw?

ZacharyQuack · 11/06/2012 12:44

So where do you poo, OP?

lalaland3008 · 11/06/2012 12:52

yabu to ask, it is betweeen you and and your dp where you both poo.

Though since you asked it depends how bad his poos smell. Although really he should be able to take a shit in his own home, poos are vile but they're a fact of life.

missmartha · 11/06/2012 13:16

So it's hardly an en suite is it? It the bathroom and toilet for the flat.

YABU for making him use a toilet outside of the flat, on the landing, in what is effectively a public area.

Dolallytats · 11/06/2012 13:46

YABU!! Toilets aren't there to look pretty, they're there to crap in!! Wow-I'd hate to be near any MN members when one of my IBS attacks strike!!!
