I need new carpet after only having just over 2 years as the wear has shown due to dogs and a young child and i really want lino wood effect to replace carpet as much cleaner than carpet and quieter than laminate and wont bubble.up but will it look tacky?

Unless you do it in a post-modern ironic sense then yes, I'm afraid it's rather tacky!

tittytittyhanghang · 08/06/2012 17:19

Probably look very tack and very easy to damage, especially with heels. Its sooo soft and everything pointy just sticks in!

DamnBamboo · 08/06/2012 17:21

YABU.
It looks cheap and nasty.

Mrsjay · 08/06/2012 17:25

you can get kitchen carpet that could look livingroomy and easier to clean I think lino would look a bit daft

Sluttybuttons · 08/06/2012 17:27

YANBU if you use the nice stuff. I intend to do this in my whole downstairs. You get some that is really nice and is for this purpose. As long as its good quality then id say go for it.

valiumredhead · 08/06/2012 17:28

Can your budget stretch to Kardean or wood? Laminate and a huge rug keeps the noise down.

Mrsjay · 08/06/2012 17:28

I have seen lino that looks like parquet flooring it didnt look tacky at all,

valiumredhead · 08/06/2012 17:28

Lino is fab these days!

Might look okay if you go for something likethis,i know where your coming from,we have just ripped up the carpet from the dining area of our huge kitchen/diner and replaced it with tiles,so much easier to keep clean when you have dogs.

cocolepew · 08/06/2012 17:44

I think it would be ok. My mum has it in her hallway and it looks nicer than my laminate.

My laminate is starting to chip snd i thought of lino. And i have very good taste Grin.

I have wood look Lino in my dining room and it looked great but the dog chewed a hole in it, and chairs and heels leave dents in it.
