To be totally f***ed off with this weather and considering buying a tumble dryer

Why the fuck is it raining non stop in JUNE?

I'm putting off washing sheets and clothes because the fucking rain won't stop so I can't dry them outside. I spend the whole winter drying washing inside the house on radiators and airers, is it too much to ask for the weather to be nice in the summer so my house isn't cluttered with clothes for a few months? This is really pissing me off.

I'm probably BU for not already owning a tumble dryer.

Would anyone recommend Very.co.uk? They have a pay in 3 months with interest free credit and 10% off first order, which we could afford. Is it a trustworthy website? I normally hate store cards and stuff, but I think this purchase is more of a basic need than a "want". There are 3 adults and 2 small children in our house, so our washing load is....ALOT.

valium, I like you. I really do. You're a smart and very wise woman. Grin

valiumredhead · 06/06/2012 16:27

Oh hush Graham considers printing out post and putting it on kitchen wall Wink

Cockwomble · 06/06/2012 16:27

I need a tumble dryer as I have no heating.

Badvoc · 06/06/2012 16:27

My dc hate towels dried on the line...ds1 calls them "sandpaper towels"!

EasilyBored · 06/06/2012 16:28

Love my tumble dryer. Can't stand having clothes hanging up to dry all over the house, makes the whole place feel damp. I treat 'do not tumble dry' instructions as a challenge.

We bought a really energy efficient one though, so we didn't feel as guilty.

valiumredhead · 06/06/2012 16:29

cock I rarely have the heating on even in winter so I never have any guilt about using mine - actually I never have any guilt about using anything that saves me time Hmm

Cockwomble · 06/06/2012 16:32

No one should have the guilt. I'd love a new one with an 'a' rating, but unless I can produce one MILLION pounds I have to stick with my 'c' one Sad

valiumredhead · 06/06/2012 16:34

I have no idea how efficient mine is, I just know we don't notice the difference in the bill even when it's on every day.

Pedallleur · 06/06/2012 16:35

Had ours (a condenser) for years and wouldn't e without a dryer. I just don't want washing drying in the house as the water stays in the atmosphere. Our dryer can move 1.5 litres of water out of 2 washloads so that amount of water would just create more humidity problems

LadyLillyWilliamSnowflake · 06/06/2012 16:37

Get one, I LOVE my tumble dryer and dishwasher, they it makes life so much easier

Jubilissimma · 06/06/2012 16:37

Yanbu. It's doing my head in and I've got a tumble drier!!
Only bought shoes from Very - no problems. Appliances Online are also good.

OddBoots · 06/06/2012 16:41

I had a tumble for years until it stopped turning (but kept heating so nearly caught fire) about 6 months ago. I tried without one for a while but stuff took an age to dry.

I was a bit scared by the near fire so didn't get another but I did get a dehumidifier. I stick the clothes on an airer with the dehumidifier in the room are they're dry in about 4 hours now.

rainydaysarebad · 06/06/2012 16:42

I'm not worried about the cost of running one as we have been known to put the heating on JUST to dry clothes sometimes. It's shit. I have a really high gas bill and low electric bill. I think it will save me money in the long run.

Don't worry graham - I'm getting a new one, but thanks for the advice - dont want my house burning down!

Ok can't wait to order it. Waiting for DH to come home to discuss and then buy!! Yay!

You are not lazy! That is not what I am saying at all. Good time management, hmmm, I like it..........

Cockwomble · 06/06/2012 16:44

Safety point re:fire just to be safe always turn it off it you leave the house, and before you go to sleep at night. You don't want to risk a fire when you're not there/asleep.

Mrsjay · 06/06/2012 16:59

My dishwasher broke and i almost had a breakdown Grin i love my dishwasher more than my dryer, I have no room to hangwashing in the house, My aunt has 1 of those old pully things goes up to the ceiling she hardly ever uses her dryer,

valiumredhead · 06/06/2012 17:02

If I had to choose, I would get rid of my dishwasher but it is making me panic just thinking about it. It's like Sophie's Choice!

Mrsjay · 06/06/2012 17:05

Totally sophies choice Grin please dont worry yourself valium your babies are working fine

MigGril · 06/06/2012 17:24

It's a space thing i think. Before dc i could get away with out it but now we have no spare room or space to hang anything in the house i couldn't live without it. Plus as our garden is North facing you can only dry stuff in the very hight of summer. Useless with the amount of washing we now produce. I just couldn't live without it.

valiumredhead · 06/06/2012 17:59

They are mrsjay! Grin

starmaker7 · 06/06/2012 18:37

I use my dryer in summer ,I cant abide crunchy towels or sheets .

Angelico · 06/06/2012 18:45

Living in Ireland we would be like cavemen if we didn't have a tumble.

Although have to say during the recent sunshine freakfest I washed EVERYTHING just so I could peg it out, grinning moronically as I did so! :o

tiggyfours · 06/06/2012 18:47

Treat yourself, even with one it is hard to get everything dried, ironed and put away. It is honestly the best suprise present my husband ever came home with. Old one died and was not expecting a new one, and was getting fed up with waiting for a dry spell or waiting 3 days for things to dry on the rack.

MarySA · 06/06/2012 18:52

I could not survive without my tumble drier. I never dry bedding or towels outside. Or socks even. That lakeland heated rail sounds a good idea. Never heard of them.

zebrafinch · 06/06/2012 19:31

I have a lakeland heated rail drier. I never use the tumble drier
