to think the street party should now end?

It started at 8am this morning with the gazebos being put up. Then loud music since 10am. It was nice, lots for the kids to do, nice BBQ, competitions etc, but it's just going on and on. We came in at 6 to give our kids time to calm down and go to bed at 7ish. There is a four year old sat on the kerb opposite our house, in her dressing gown, just crying with tiredness. Parents nowhere to be seen.
Am I being unreasonable to want them all to call it a day and return the street to normal?

This is a once in a life time thing, apart from the poor 4 year d yabu

WorraLiberty · 04/06/2012 20:56

Goodness it's a bit early isn't it?

I remember the street parties in 1977 went on til around midnight so that the adults and teenagers could have something they enjoyed too and that was a disco.

Has there been a fight yet? If not, then it's far too early Grin

Sirzy · 04/06/2012 20:58

The 4 year olds parents should take him to bed but other than that YABU, its only 9pm so hardly late.

QuintessentialShadows · 04/06/2012 20:59

Poor 4 year old. Sad

PissyDust · 04/06/2012 21:00

I have a photo of myself asleep on 2 chairs wearing a hat and clutching a flag around the age of 4, no doubt it was past 10pm and a one ishoff for special occasions.

TheHouseOnTheCorner · 04/06/2012 21:03

I remember them going on all night in the 70s too...but that 4 year old needs seeing to....go and find her parents!

I had a terrible sort of premoniton earlier today....it was a "vision" if you like of a small male toddler getting lost at one of these Jubilee parties. Sad

Was terrible...I hope you don't mind me saying this here...I just wanted to get it out. Weird it was.

HeadfirstForHalos · 04/06/2012 21:03

It's a one off, let them enjoy themselves.

YANBU about the 4 yr old, I have no problem with dc staying up late on occasions like this but not if they are so tired they're crying (and everyone is ignoring them!)

billsmill · 04/06/2012 21:07

Have found the parents, they have now provided her with a chair. At least they can see her. Guess it's up to them when poor thing goes to bed.

The parents are definitely out of order

But as for the party, I imagine they take a hell of a lot of organising so I expect the people who were good enough to organise it will want to get their money's worth so to speak.

No-one round here bothered and I couldn't be arsed to rally people round to organise one either Sad
