..would you stay able to drive, in case there was a problem?

DS1 had a friend, aged 9, to stay last night, but at about 9.30 he was sick a couple of times, obviously wasnt well and wanted to go home. I phoned his mum and dad (who live about 2 miles away) but they were both pissed and so couldnt drive and come and collect him.

They did suggest a cab, but as he was being sick and quite upset I didnt a) want to send him off into the night on his own and b) wasnt sure a cab would take him anyway.

DH was out so, I had to wake DS2 and pile all 3 boys into the car and drive him home.

TBH last night I was a bit pissed off with the mum and dad (mainly due to the hassle factor) but wonder now if IWBU??

(for what its worth, either DH or I stay sober if DS1 is out)

They could have got a cab. The last time I had a sick 9 year old for a sleepover, I decanted him into the spare room because it was 2am, and seemed tired and sleepy and not overly concerned. His parents collected him in the morning and when I told them what had happened said their other childen (3) had been going down like flies all week Shock.

I have never seen so much vomit in my entire life - it took me 45 minutes to clean up. I threw away the duvet cover, sheet, pillow and pillow case. I had to have the duvet, carpet and curtains professionally dry cleaned and it was the yummy sleepover that cost more than £350.00. I still remember the father laughing when I asked if they had enjoyed their broccolli pasta bake for lunch.

They were enjoying a well deserved night off, so I wouldn't be bothered that they were having a drink. They should have offered to come in a taxi to get him though!
