We had to queue for 45 minutes to get in. Once in we had to queue 30 minutes for the toilet with one disabled baby change toilet and then 30 minutes for sausages that were £5 each and 25 mins for fish & chips. The only activity you could get anywhere near was morris dancing and a band. Everywhere was packed with screaming kids and pissed off parents. There was no queue management or shade to queue for Thomas, Fireman Sam or the Disney tent that all had 1 hour + waits. There were no characters walking about, no free stuff to see while waiting and the whole things was a big advertising drive.

Should I just accept that my mistake should cost me £52 + £20 food + £15 parking? I am 8 months pregnant and this was supposed to be my last family big trip out before the birth. I was expecting something like Lollibop but this was a truly terrible day out.

I paid £64.50 for my family to attend. Sainsbury's sold the tickets promising an unforgettable and fantastic day out with children. I certainly will not forget just what a shameless exploitation it was of the Jubilee. We could not get into any of the events promised. There was no Jubilee celebration, the security was so poor they were helpless to prevent anyone wandering in, and we were subject to shameless marketing. We spent a few hours wandering around looking for an event we could actually join in. Worse still there were people who had travelled from all over the country to get there. A miserable event. I'm still waiting for a refund.

I think YANBU I know someone who went and she told me it was just the most shit thing ever.

She said the things consisted of a few tents advertising things like colgate.
The only thing to do was collect stamps to get a goody bag which meant queuing for ages at each tent (ie colgate etc) to get a stamp. She decided not to bother with this even though it appeared to be the only activity and realised she had made the right decision when later found out the "goody" bag was in fact an empty, poor quality bag with a sainsburys logo on it.

It sounds an absolute shambles and rip-off and I think absolutely people should ask for their money back.

On you and yours on radio 4 now!

SleepyEyed, did You and Yours have anyone from Sainsburys to comment? If so, what did they say? What I have found almost more annoying than the lameness of the event itself is Sainsburys' refusal to own up to their mistake.

To quote from yesterday's article in the London Evening Standard:
A spokesman for the supermarket said: ?We are very sorry to hear that a small number of people did not enjoy their day out with us. Overall we?ve had great positive feedback.?

Hello? Having thoroughly wasted our day, are they now trying to insult our intelligence too?

serin · 08/06/2012 13:31

We got free tickes for this but decided that the cost of travel would be prohibitive and returned them.

Really sorry for you all.

There really is no excuse for this, we went to Live and deadly live last year to see Steve backshall and we had a fabulous free day. Yes there were queues but entertainers were walking up and down them and showing off unusaul creatures so the time passed quickly.

Chilli - they gave a statement and basically said te same thing

One woman was offered a voucher but got a full refund once she said she was going to speak to the bbc....

What email address did you email? I still haven't got a reply

BelfastBloke · 11/06/2012 13:59

I used the Sainsbury's feedback form, listed above. I left a short message, demanding a full refund.

Got an email saying they would send a cheque to cover the full amount.

EverybodysSleepyEyed · 11/06/2012 22:04

I got a reply! Full refund.

Pleased as all we saw was one rubbish show and the military dogs and I had a very disappointed little boy on my hands
