to think a six year old shouldn't know what nipple clamps are

this afternoon I was given a description of what nipple clamps were and how they are attached, not including what they are used for thankfully, from a six year old! (friends child) is that not a bit weird?

very weird. My DS wouldn't have a clue and he is 6. Why would a 6yo child know about stuff like that?

BonnieBumble · 31/05/2012 23:03

That's worrying.

freddy05 · 31/05/2012 23:04

I thought it was worrying thanks for confirming that for me.

i'd be concerned. an internet contact told me this week her dad had her in porn movies from age 3 to 9.

Jinsei · 31/05/2012 23:06

I'm 39, and I don't actually know what they are! Blush

AnyFucker · 31/05/2012 23:06

very worrying

can you say more about the context, or would you rather not ?

ThePathanKhansWitch · 31/05/2012 23:08

Thats so wrong OP.

Jinsei · 31/05/2012 23:08

Hasten to add, I don't really want to know either - imagination is sufficient.

YADNBU! I would be concerned. :(

GobblersKnob · 31/05/2012 23:08

Very odd and worrying, there is no reason for a 6yo to have that information.

RandomNumbers · 31/05/2012 23:09

inappropriate sexual knowledge would be very worrying

is it a relative, a schoolmate of one of your DCs, your own child?

Whitamakafullo · 31/05/2012 23:10

That is scary Sad

My 6 and 7 year old thankfully wouldn't have a clue about them

LucieMay · 31/05/2012 23:11

I suppose an innocent explanation is that the child's parents have them for their own private adult use and the child has somehow found them... (I remember having a root in my parents' room as a child and finding some porn vids and condoms! They were stashed away but I was a nosey kid. Can't remember how old I was but I was quite shocked and didn't mention anything! I never went rooting again!)

On the other hand it's still extremely odd the child knew what they were for, which wouldn't be obvious to a six year old had they just found them.

GinevraMollyWeasley · 31/05/2012 23:11

Very odd. Best case scenario, perhaps the child found some at home and parents are the sort to thoroughly explain everything in the interests of 'openness'. Like the time I received an earnest lecture from a 5 or 6 year old boy about tampons and 'menstrashun' and moon cycles.

FreckledLeopard · 31/05/2012 23:12

Very weird. DD is 11 and wouldn't know what they are (and she's very clued up about stuff). What was the context?

tethersend · 31/05/2012 23:16

I would be very concerned by that... In fact, I can't think of a context where I wouldn't be.

freddy05 · 31/05/2012 23:20

we were buying stuff at a fair and one thing were those clipy paper things, the girly said something about clipping them on like nipple clamps and carried on a bit about them, the mother looked rather embarrassed so maybe it was her having found something and mum trying to explain. that would explain mum looking embarrassed rather than annoyed I guess. It just struck me as a very odd thing for her to know anything about!

Hmm
LucieMay · 01/06/2012 00:11

I try to be as honest as possible with my six year old DS but if I was into such things as nipple clamps (which I am not, but fair play to anyone who is- what consenting adults do behind closed doors is up to them), I would definitely invent a different explanation to the real one and lie to him. I try never to lie outright to my son, but sometimes, you just have to.

BodaciousTatas · 01/06/2012 07:23

I am 33 and I have never heard of them so yanbu.

LoveHandles88 · 01/06/2012 07:25

What lovebunny????? I hope I have read your post wrong.

MadamFolly · 01/06/2012 08:24

I would be worried since they are things I would assume would be easy to pretend are something else e.g. bullclips, paperclips etc.

Has the child ever acted oddly in any other way?
