Its my birthday today and while I dont want a huge fuss or anything, it would be nice if someone else bought my cake instead of asking me if I wanted them to get it or did I want to get it while I was out. And if someone made the kids put down what they are doing to sing Happy Birthday properly instead of them starting off and then drifting away as they lose interest.

They are wonderful kids and really love celebrating each others and my birthday but they were all involved in stuff at "cake time" and no one told them to put it down for a second.

I suppose I would just like a birthday where someone else puts as much thought into it as I do. Not money, not bothered about that, just be made to feel special for a day, important. Instead of normal taken for granted, with a cake thrown in. I even had to organise my own drinks out!

Feeling abit sorry for myself and I know that I shouldnt!

About buying the cake, it would take a journey out to get the cake by "someone else" and as I was already going out to my office,.......you get the idea.....

Happy birthday, with full choral effects. Unfortunately my phone doesn't do Flowers and Wine.

YANBU.

Aww thank you!

I know I am being a bit mardy, its just that I like to make it as special as I can for everyone else, not with money so much, as I said, but making sure they are "king or queen" for the day! My best friend and I were supposed to be going out for dinner tonight and then I couldnt book the restaurant for when we wanted, so we arent doing anything! She is going away at the weekend so I didnt push it but I was kind of disappointed that she didnt agree when I suggested just drinks instead. I sent flowers to her at work on her birthday as I remembered her saying that she had never had that.

Happy Birthday. I can really see why you are disappointed. I'm sure your family didn't mean to upset you but it would have been nice if they had been more considerate. I would be a bit hurt by my friend too, if I were you.

Maybe you might need to be a bit more honest about wanting them to make a proper effort next year- easier said than done I know but some people can't take hints!!

Have a forbidden birthday hug from me!!

DashingRedhead · 31/05/2012 21:03

I don't think you're being mardy. My 2yo can - and loves to - get to the end of Happy Birthday. It's not exactly a Beethoven symphony.

dashing your phone would do ['thanks'] though Grin

Happy Birthday bogeyface :)
