And to complain and not pay for the past five days it has been disconnected.

I accept responsibility for not paying the bill on time. I am trying to swap bank accounts as my ex-bank took money out for credit card without even asking leaving me short for rent and food a month ago.

Managed to set up a new account with a new bank and have been trying to swap incoming and outgoing monies, but without internet banking for one and being sick, I missed my broadband/phone bill about two weeks ago and haven't had money in the bank until Tuesday, when I paid it in full via their automated phoneline.

Still got no internet more than fifty hours later, despite two calls. One initially the morning after paying the bill and then one the second morning where I was told the payment wasn't showing and that they'd manually switch it on for me. For some reason now my phoneline is no longer working, but only going straight to their automated payment line. I bloody paid already!

I explained to then how much I need the internet to pay bills and get food shopping due to disability making getting out harder than usual, surely it doesn't take nearly three days to switch this back on?

It's be in the terms and condition that if you don't pay it on time may take a while to turn back on. You have had genuine issues that have made your payment late but they will get loads of calls about late payments when they've just been skint or lazy and they all have a story too no doubt. Sorry Sad.

They twice given me time frames and if it is not done soon that'll be the second time it has not been accurate. Can I refuse to pay for the days I have had no connection? It's nearly a fifth of the bill and rising.

If you refuse to pay they'll cut you off again and due to the t&c they'll be within their rights. You can ask for a deduction and there's certainly no harm in doing so. Good luck.

I am so angry I am crying. The reason my phone is now barred and I have no internet still is because they can't find record of my payment on their systems.

I did say to them that I can't check my bank as I have no internet and being disabled that getting out requires some planning. Their solution is that I go to my bank and get a statement, then go to the phone shop round the corner and get them to fax the proof.

Then it will still take four days to get it put back on, and this is a minimum as with the weekend and bank holidays it might take longer.

I have checked my bank over my phone, and the payment got to them Wednesday morning. I have my receipt from their payment line, but they still cannot find it.

So I will be at a minimum ten days without internet and also phone since they cut that off the second time I contacted them, when they said they'd reinstate the internet manually and it would take a maximum of twenty four hours. Eight of those days will be since I paid my bill.

This is causing me to be unable to carry out my affairs as normal, I rely on proper internet access. Being unable to pay the direct debit is my fault, but I have since sorted that and am now in a worse situation. I am also out of pocket as I have had to contact them via my mobile which charges for 0800 calls, plus my data on the mobile is practically gone as I am having to use it to get online at all, which is awkward for me as my hands are arthritic. This is showing me just how isolated I am without the internet, stuck int the house unable to pay my other bills, shop for food or be in touch with friends. Surely I can ask for a deduction on my next bill at the least?
