To think that a dog barking is not the same as a dog biting?

I brought my dog out for a walk and to collect DC from school.
I was chatting to a friend with the dog sitting beside me. There was a small child darting at the dog and running away and I said to the child Dogs don't like that. Almost on que the dog barked. He has a loud bark, which is surprising for the size of him. The child ran away and came back with the mother who was giving out to me for my dangerous dog trying to bite her child.
I explained that the dog barked and did not attempt to bite even though her child was teasing him. She replied that he shouldn't be barking at people then.

I too think people confuse barking with aggression.

A little boy ran up to my dog with a big ball. So my dog sat down, wagged his tail and woofed at him (as he likes balls, little boys and playing).

Cue little boy running off to his dad crying and saying the dog barked. Then nutter dad comes over and starts having a go (he picked the wrong woman) - going on about how he was a copper and could have the dog destroyed trying to intimidate me.

I used to work for the Police so asked about his warrant card (claimed he didn't have it Hmm). Then I said very loudly to the crowd that had gathered that the dog (sitting quietly on a lead by my side) had simply barked as that's how dogs talk. His little boy then started laughing and started chuntering on in that cute way wee boys do.

Dad was having none of it and continued loudly declaiming he would get my registration and follow me to the car (while walking off).

As he went I was shouting " you need to mate, it's blah blah and my names blah blah" to make him look a twat.

Some people are just arses.

You don't need to mate - the point being I was yelling my name and registration at him Grin

Shock

I'd imagine the little boy will be more affected by his dad screaming at a woman and threatening to have her dog killed than a dog barking at him! What a horrible man!
