toddler in side care with no helmet

Today I saw a toddler in a motor bike side car with just a cap and sunglasses on. I just wondered what everyone else thinks? I can't believe the adult riding the motor bike had full protective leathers and helmet on - but chose not to provide the same for their child.......aibu to think this is not so great parenting.

A helmet is not required by law for sidecar passengers. And i's probably o more dangerous than being in a soft top with the roof down.

If DP did that I would actually flay him alive.

I would think a cabriolet offers more protection than a sidecar, though, Edith.

who in there right minds would put a toddler in a sidecar

Did think it is not illegal but I wouldn't feel right wearing so much protective clothing & my kid with just shorts & t-shirt! I am a bit OTT with helmets etc whereas my DH is more laid back & he couldn't believe it either. The kid was about 2 yrs I would have guessed.

That depends on whether it has a bar or not.

A bike with a sidecar is more like a car than a bike. Personally, I wouldn't put a child in a sidecar (exhaust fumes, as much as anything) and I'd be thinking murderous thoughts towards DH if he took one pillion, even with the right protective clothing and helmet. But I do think that parents are capable of making risk assessments for their children and no laws were being broken here.
