AIBU to think that Jeremy Kyle gives deliberately wrong lie detector results?

I admit now that I'm being unreasonable watching the show in the first place, but...

Sometimes when I watch it and people swear blind that they were telling the truth and when it turns out it was a lie they look so confused and upset and it seems to be these times that Jeremy Kyle gives them a hard time and calls them everything under the sun. Obviously some people must lie but now and then I think the show changes the results.

Today for instance, the test said a woman was lying but she really looked confused and kept muttering under her breath in confusion that she hadn't done anything whilst Jeremy called her a 'dirty little liar' and said things like 'are you going to cry now!?' until her partner stormed off and kicked a door.

AIBU to think that sometimes the results are skewed to antagonise the guests even more and make for a more interesting show?

It's beyond me how anyone can watch that shite in the first place. Put the terminally stupid in a ring and laugh and point. Hmm
It's like the modern day equivalent of a freak show. Horrible.

Fusedog · 03/04/2014 17:36

The think I think is shocking is being have to frigging degrade themselves in order to get rehab

ACatCalledBrian · 03/04/2014 17:58

Wouldn't surprise me. My DP used to work for ITV and at one point they were banned from using all the hotels in Manchester to put people up for the show. They used to (probably still do…) put the two sides in the same hotel and give them loads of free booze the night before, to make sure they've had a fight just before coming on the show. If stuff isn't kicking off, the minders are encouraged to spread things one side may have said to the other one to try and encourage a fight.

Jeremy Kyle should be banned from TV, and I'm not normally a fan of censorship.

Gileswithachainsaw · 03/04/2014 18:08

I've thought this before. Sometimes they look unbelievably stunned and confused.

The worst one though was a DNA test on the Steve Wilkos show. Poor girl honestly looked like she had noooo idea. She'd been to a party and was so upset and stunned. He was laying into her and not once did anyone back off.

I've beer seen anyone look so terrified and confused and I thought maybe she'd been drugged or something cos something wasn't right and she was being called all sorts :(

Gileswithachainsaw · 03/04/2014 18:09

Never

ineedabodytransplant · 03/04/2014 18:12

I popped round to see my mum the other day and she had this shite on. My mum can be pretty ignorant when people visit so I had to turn the TV off myself.

Jeremy Kyle USA?? Is everyone in the US black, slutty and very loud????

Just shows the depths the world has sunk to Sad

ineedabodytransplant · 03/04/2014 18:14

I know that this crap programme isn't relevant about everyone in the US. But are they happy to send this rubbish over her? Do we send the same sort of rubbish to them?

Why isn't there a shudder smiley?

ineedabodytransplant · 03/04/2014 18:14

here not her!

MrsBungle · 03/04/2014 18:16

I cannot stand that show and I cannot stand that disgusting, vile, self-obsessed, patronising dick head. Why anyone wants to watch that stuff is shocking to me. He's just mean. My uncle was in the local paper after being arrested for a crime that involved him standing up to some yobs. The jk show hounded him, offering him money to go on the show. It's all very distasteful and, I think, abusive.

funkybuddah · 03/04/2014 18:27

I hate the fact jk had no knowledge of addiction and how actually it isn't a choice to do sis/drink at a certain point of addiction.

The counsellor he has on that show must be appalled at how judgemental jk is and must have so much work to do to get the clients to talk

luckyjazz · 03/04/2014 18:51

The man is vile, and what REALLY annoys me is how judgemental he is, and I often wonder if he will ever have his wife on as a guest and ask her what she was thinking when she married her first husband in a radio show competition, having never met him before!!

BuggarMeGently · 03/04/2014 23:19

Was watching Blush yesterday, and he said something like "I have the power to help you or not"...narcissistic little horsenugget

BreakingDad77 · 04/04/2014 06:21

Buddha I though jk had had gambling or drinking addiction himself?

Gileswithachainsaw · 04/04/2014 07:11

He did!!

And was drinking heavily at some point too. Graham found him on the floor.

(Something like that anyway. It's in his book)

Chelvis · 04/04/2014 07:40

They actively target people in recovery from drink and drug addiction - a close relative of mine is a drug and alcohol addiction counsellor, and clients of the charity she works for are constantly being approached. It can be incredibly damaging for them in derailing their recovery - some short term, but others much longer if not permanently.

And as for the promises that 'we'll help you' after the show - they refer them back to the same drug and alcohol service they were already using! The NHS and government funded charities and agencies - so ultimately ALL OF US - are paying for the chaos this show causes in already vulnerable lives. I despise it.

BreakingDad77 · 04/04/2014 12:17

I know its bad but I think it has helped shine a spotlight on how bad it is for kids to not know who there father is and to sort it out once and for all.

DW's niece is first of three from three different fathers, middle child I think 5-6 didn't know, their family swore blind it was some guy and gave him aggro for years, they did a private DNA check and wasn't him at all, they think they have found the father but he is just some weed waster who isn't interested. The mum is obviously no angel never really worked, though gets barely any child support as they all on benefits/cash in hand. She seems to try her best and niece is doing ok at school.

LangenFlugelHappleHoff · 04/04/2014 13:02

Just want to punch him in the throat, even the mention of his name makes me boil!

caruthers · 04/04/2014 13:11

The whole show is littered with sound bites of deadbeat dads or feckless mothers.

It's train wreck TV that gets boring pretty quickly.

But it seems popular and hence the reason why it's on all the time on numerous channels.

bordersbaz72 · 05/03/2016 17:59

hi there my name is barry I am appearing on the Jeremy kyle show on 14th march 2016 me and my partner went to support her sister in a lie detector but due to her medication they said they couldn't test her so I offered to take test as I was the one being accused but when we got there after dragging two kids under 5 all that way they never even done any test hence why me and my partner of nearly 6 years fabricated doubts we had about each other in order to clear her sisters name but to not involve her I aske3d examiner if he could do it from start of relationship which he failed to mention on show chrystals test was done 1 hour before show we both failed on all 3 questions but I know my partner and none of us go out exept with the kids we have both been faithfull thruout the relationship but me and my partner both know 100% that we haven't cheated if me and my partner had doubts about each other this could have torn a family with 2 kids under 5 apart but lucky we know each other so well but how many families has he destroyed with fake results if you know anyone thinking of going on I would get them to think twice they try to intimidate you behind the scenes and its shoking I feel sorry for so many people that I have misjudged watching show in past and think how many more
