To think BG Homecare is a bit rubbish

Boiler has water pouring out of it. Have turned it off. Called Homecare which is for boiler emergencies at about 2pm.

No one can come until tomorrow at some point.

I know I really don't need heating but I wanted to dye my hair, I need to wash it and I wanted a bath tonight and a shower before work in the morning.

I know I am whining and I won't die without any of the above but I thought half the point of the service was that they sent someone out on an emergency (eg same day) basis.

Bet they are all in the park enjoying the sun and not wanting to fix boilers. I'm going to have to go to the gym for a shower and I cba

Its not an emergency. BG class it as an emergency if you need the hot water for health reasons or you have an uncontainable water leak. Since you have neither I would suggest reading the fine print. Also they have staff working today but the above jobs will be prioritised over you, if the work is already full for the day its kind of tough. How dare the engineers enjoy their day off, they should all work their rest days shouldn't they. I am assuming the absent on the phone didn't explain these details, they should have so you understood. That bit is rubbish.

It's not an emergency and you can use the showers in the gym

You are right, I suppose it's not an emergency. :(

But then again, you haven't seen my hair. I think it might be.

To me dying my hair is an emergency too. BG don't see it the same way. I used to work in service and repair. I know what they do and don't classify as one. That's why reading the small print is worth it. They only do none emergency work on weekends if they are quiet. Otherwise its things that will cause property damage or puts some at risk. Could you take a picture of your hair and email it to prove your plight? :)

catgirl1976 · 27/05/2012 18:08

They would have someone round in ten minutes flat if I did that Grin

I think I will................ :)

Which Homecare package do you have? Some of them have an agreement where the engineer visits the same day as you called.

McHappyPants2012 · 27/05/2012 18:11

Could you dye your hair at the gym

Father not on on a Sunday. That's the small print bit. You can pay extra for same forest service. When you have no heat and hot water or an uncontainable leak, but its not applicable on weekends. They will if they can but their definition of an emergency will always top any type of agreement.

catgirl1976 · 27/05/2012 19:31

I'm not sure Father - I can't find the proper paper work

McHappy - I may just try that. Or wear a hat.

BG Homecare is rubbish. End of.

In our last house, we had a leaky boiler that sometimes stopped producing hot water. One of the engineers actually told me I was turning the taps on wrong. They came twelve times in three months to fix the leak, replacing a different part every time but not actually solving the problem. One of them vanished off for an hour to get a part that was "10 minutes away". An outright lie: the town where he was going is the town where I work, and it aint 10 minutes away.

Eventually they sent us our renewal: £40 a month Shock Shock for the very lowest cover; we couldn't even get more cover if we wanted it as our pipes were non-standard or something. We didn't renew.
